It was a sizable, silvery figure, somewhat heavy, of two girls dancing together. They had elegant dresses, pointed ears and large butterfly wings on their back. "I think we've hit the jackpot!" You call to Jim.
"Lemme see." Jim walks over to you. He takes a look at the statue. "Hmm, cute, but..."
"I think it's made of silver." You start as Jim takes the statue out of the box.
"Damn, man; this things way too heavy to be silver!" You started to lose your good mood, expecting him to say it was lead or something. "This is platinum!" Jim continued. "How'd this wind up in the dump?"
Your cheery mood came back with a vengeance. "Who cares, it's ours now!" You say as you put it back in the box and carry it over to the fence. "C'mon, hurry up!"
All the way back into town, you could hardly stop looking at the figure. "You're going to burn a hole in that thing, you know!" Jim snarked.
"You really think this is platinum?" You ask.
"My Mom was a metallurgist, and she taught me a thing or two about this stuff."
You could only hope the Cash for Jewelry clerk agreed, unfortunately, it was too late to go there, so you took the figure back to your place. All the while, you continued staring at it. You couldn't help thinking that the fairies looked kind of cute. Back at your place, you settled into bed. Looking at the figure, sitting on the dresser as the moonlight shimmers off it you drift off to bed, whispering "You, my lovely ladies are my ticket out of this mess."
