Class finished, and she needed answers. She decided to talk to Betty, one of her cheerleader friends. In a sense, she was her best friend, and had plotted the downfall of the cheerleader newbie alongside her.
“Betty, have you minute?” English words awkwardly rolled out of Jennifer’s mouth. “I mean, do you have a minute?”
“A bit. What’s up, Jen?” Betty had already finished packing her stuff. Jennifer felt somewhat relieved that Betty knew her. Moreover, it seemed that Betty still had a close relationship; the girl hadn’t talked with a tinge of ice or uniformity.
“Are you going to start the plan now?”
Betty, for a moment, showed a look of surprise, until it melted briefly later. “Ah, did I tell you about the plan… I did, didn’t I? Umm, please don’t mention it to someone else, you understand girl, right?”
“I don’t… I understand, but I think it’s not right.” [My words, they don’t come out very well. I have to improve… no, wait, I should not need to!]
“Sorry girl, but could you please, pleeeeeaaaase keep it a secret? I’ll show you something great if you do! A surprise?” Betty looked worried.
“Fine. But this once only.” [Did my personality change? Why am I saying this!? No, wait, it’s because what they’re doing is not right. Yes, it’s not right. But I… I’m confused.]
“Thanks!” She hugs Jennifer tightly. “I’ll see you later then, Jen!”
“At cheerleading, right?”
“Hmm? You want to watch today?” Betty gives her a quizzical look.
“Watch? I’m not a part of the team?”
“Err… if you want to try out again, be my guest, but last time didn’t work out so well. We can probably make an exception since it’s your last week and all, if you really want to.” A flash of memory where Jennifer failed the cheerleader tryouts surfaced her mind. “Don’t you have the flower arrangement thingy with Blaire?”
“Flower arrangement thing? Oh, right. With Blaire.”
“Yeah. Make sure to stay in contact with him! I’m sure he’ll miss you when you’re gone. Shucks, I’ll miss you in a week,” Betty hugs Jennifer close. “Alright, I’m off!”
