"So this baby works?" The man in sunglasses asked.
"I don't sell dysfunctional equipment Roy," said the Wizard. "It's everything you wanted and paid for."
"So it has the options I asked for? Zapping a woman's piece of clothing, and when they put it on, it'll permanently change them into a cat girl, and they'll instinctively find their master?"
"Yes yes. It comes with the eternal youth and tirelessness extra. The obedient sentient automation or utterly loyal but with personality variances with settings in between the two. The auto identification of you as their master built right into the ray gun. The 'transform clothes on victim into maid uniform' setting. The perception filter generator of those around them. The whole works. You know you could have likely paid for a live-in servant for the amount you paid for this thing."
"But this they wouldn't have been cat girl maids, and they wouldn't have been completely loyal."
"I'm not one to judge. But fair warning, sexual service is NOT part of the settings, and it WOULD be considered a 'breach of contract' between you and those you zap with this thing."
"Oh please, I'm not THAT morally liberal." Roy said, picking up the cheesy looking ray gun, looking like it was right out of a 1950s toy store.
"Oh, and before you forget, here's your license for the thing."
"Much obliged."
"Now feel free to vacate my shop. And don't expect to ever find it again. I give one item per-customer. Keeps things from being completely imbalanced across time and space. Turn your girlfriend into a cat-girl maid, or the whole world, it isn't my concern."
"Fine by me. I have what I want."
Roy left the magic shop, and wasn't all that surprised when he found it was just an empty store when he turned around. He was tempted to believe he had paid a small fortune for a scam, but he'd heard stories about that store that popped up, some saying visiting worldline after worldline, adding that one spark of chaos. Well, either magic was real, he'd been duped. Whatever the case, there was only one way to find out. He had paid for a LOT of options on the cat girl maid ray gun. If you were going to buy something like this, might as well go all out.
He spotted a random woman, no wedding band, no kids, he wasn't completely without morals. He aimed the toyish looking thing, no one in the mall so much as giving him or the toy so much as a glance, and pulled the trigger. The beam traveled in a wonky path through the air, and hit the woman.
In a matter of seconds, several changes happened. The woman's brain hair and blue eyes both turned a deep purple, then her human ears vanished to be replaced by triangle ones. A long purple tail grew out from her skirt. Then her eyes became slit and she got little fangs as her hands became ever so slightly more paw like and her nose took on a slight triangle shape. Then her reddish-brown matching dress and blouse changed to the same deep purple as her eyes and hair, became a purple and white maid's uniform with a bow around her back and around her neck, complete with a small bell.
The woman stiffened for a few moment, blinking her eyes. Then her eyes focused on Roy, then she curtsied and smiled.
"Hello Master, my name is Dina, how many I serve you?"
Roy looked around, no one gave the two of them so much as a second glance, so that option was working just fine.
