Dina and Royce walked arm-in-arm through the park, enjoying the warm spring day. The reality filter kept them from being regarded as monsters, but they were still considered an unusual sight, and they garnered quite a few stares as they walked.
"Oh, I want that one, and that one. And he looks nice. And her, too, " said Dina, as she pointed at different people in the park.
Royce patted her gently on the arm. "Now, dear sister, I want them all to join us, too. We share the same feelings, remember. But we must be practical. I am very rich, but my wealth isn't without it's limitations. We can only afford to support so many cat girl maids."
Dina frowned, and looked glum.
"Now, now. Don't be sad. I didn't say we couldn't add anyone to our staff. But we must be selective, and establish some rules for admission, " said Royce. "For example, no children or parents. We wouldn't want to separate a family, and we certainly don't want to convert an entire family into our servants. It might cause some problems down the line. We don't want any groups forming within our servants that might challenge our authority. That's how revolutions begin."
Dina frowned again. She had been eyeing a little girl she thought would have looked absolutely adorable as a cat girl in a tiny little maid uniform.
"We also want to avoid incorporating anyone too famous. The reality filter is powerful, but it does have its limits. It is probably best to choose people with few connections to society. The fewer friends and family they have, the better. And someone without financial obligations would be ideal. "
"What about him? " said Dina, pointing to a hobo lying on a bench. He carried a pink slip in his hand, indicating he had recently been fired from an engineering firm. A young woman in a bright white lab coat walked up the bench and began to talk to the hobo. Royce tried to read the name tag on her coat, but could only make out the first name - Kaley.
"I am afraid it looks like he has already been chosen by someone else, " said Royce.
Dina stomped her foot. "Oh, pooh. We will never find anyone to be our cat girl maid, " said Dina.
"Now, now. We'll find the right person. We just have to go to the right place to find them. When hunting prey, you must first know where they spend the most time. Ah, here we are, " said Royce.
He had stopped at an old shopping pavilion at the edge of the park. A small store sat alone in the parking lot. The sign above it read:
----- Otaku Wanted Anime Store --------
Royce smiled. "Yes, I believe we will find what we need in here. Now all we need to do is wait patiently for our prey to come to feed."
"That's hard. I don't want to wait, " said Dina as she pouted.
Royce patted her arm gently, again. "I know. It is hard for me, too. But patience is a virtue, and it is rewarded."
They gently pushed open the door, and entered the store.
