You enter the store not knowing what to expect, you could have sworn that yesterday there was a thriving video game store here, you know because you had lunch next store at the pizza parlor. Looking around there are all sorts of trinkets and other interesting items. Whatever reason after some looking around to eye a small bucket of ornate and clearly not cheap rings with a sign that reads "1 dollar transformation rings."
"A gag gift?" you think "But why use such expensive materials?" You wonder.
"These rings are defective, I could never sell them at full price." A old man tells you. You jump, a bit startled at how this old man suddenly appeared behind you. But none the less he continues on saying.
"These rings were apart of a failed magic experiment to create rings that would allow one to shape shift into anything they could imagine. Although they do allow some form of transformation, it is highly unstable depending on how you look at it. Suppose you wanted to become a dragon with one of these rings, you might get anything from becoming as tall as a dragon but otherwise being entirely human to being a human with dragon wings". He finishes being as serious as anyone could. You almost want to laugh. "Transformation rings?" you say "Magic isn't real and even if it were why sell defective items?"
"Oh that ones easy, I recently learned about a group through the internet who would take any chance they could to experience a transformation. But my more typical customers would never go for those items so I had to severely reduce the price. If you don't believe they are real buy one then" The old man replies, it's clear he owns this shop. You shrug and decide to buy one, somehow something about him is convincing you a bit. The ring you got was gold with shiny blue gem on top.
"Ok to use the ring hold it, wear it, just make sure you are in physical contact with it. Describe out loud or imagine what you would like. You'll know if it worked when the gem glows, but unlike similar rings I sell the result maybe unexpected. I only tested one ring out of the batch and I found that while transformation to something nonhuman was unexpected, you could always return to your natural human form without issue."
