Coming home from work, you hear something about an accident at the university hospital, but think nothing of it. As you come in the house, you smell something strange - your wife is being adventurous in cooking again. You love her cooking, but occasionally you're not in the same page.
What is that you're cooking? You peak over her shoulder and try not to vomit. She notices your reaction. " I know " she sounds a little weird, as she is evidently trying not to breathe through her nose. " I wanted to try something new, but this is making me feel sick.. I think me may have to eat out.."
"Okay" you manage to articulate despite the smell "but let's get rid of that first." She agrees, and takes the wok she was using outside to spill it all in the fire pit, hoping it won't attract too many birds. She puts gently at first, but, her wrists starting to hurt, she dumps it all in. There is a small splash and she gets some on the lower part of her shirt.
"Yeowch!" It burns a little when it hits her. " ugh. I have to change first! You choose what we eat!" She says as she makes for your bedroom. You squeeze her side as she walks by and get the liquid on your hands. You rinse them, and wipe them dry on your pants while you think of places to go. You consider many possibilities, but settle on a crepe place, hoping to be romantic, as well as fill her need to eat something different, and yours to eat something predictable.
"Chez Louis? Sounds great" as she kissed you. "Get your keys, I'm starving."
You head to dinner and have a nice meal, but your wife seems to feel more and more ill. "This is lovely honey, I just feel a bit sick. And my headache is getting worse."
"It's okay, we don't need dessert. Let's he'd back and get you some Advil."
As you drive home she rolls down the widow and vomits " bleh. I'm sorry about that, but better out there than in here.. My stomach feels better now."
She grabs some Advil and heads to bed. You kiss her goodnight. You were hoping to make her squirm a little, but resolve to wait until tomorrow.
You're not totally ready to sleep, so you read the news online. You find the information in the accident at the university. Lots of people are reporting feeling ill and the city is asking people not to panic.
You get distracted reading about traffic reports and budgets, then head to bed. Jane is sleeping soundly, so you lay down and sleep.
