Mary Lou bounded up the shoreline to the nest she had made for Adam.
Damn him, she thought. He better be there. After all I have done for him, he should be grateful. He doesn't know how good he has it, and how terrible it can be. Maybe it's time I reminded him.
As she walked ashore, she found it increasingly difficult to walk erect. Her back ached, and she was forced to hunch over as she walked. By the time she reached the nest, the pain had increased, and she was forced to crawl. A quick glance at the nest revealed that her worst fears were true - Adam had escaped. She tried to scream in frustration, but all that came out was a loud bellow.
Adam, you will pay for this, thought Mary Lou, as she began follow his scent out of the den. Oh, yes, you will pay dearly for your betrayal. I think you need another lesson about who is in charge around here.
Crawling on her belly, Mary Lou followed the trail of his scent to the banks of the lake. She quickly scanned the lake, and saw him swimming slowly near a large land mass sticking out of the water.
She quickly slide into the lake, and swam towards him at rapid speed. As she swam, she watched Adam loiter around the sandbar. She was a little confused about why he had stopped there.
Does he not see me coming after him? Mary Lou thought.
As she neared closer, she was amused to see that he now no longer looked human. He had some anthro-morphic features before, resembling a hybrid of human and alligator, now all those features were gone. He now resembled a full bull alligator, from head to tail. A beautiful alligator. Mary Lou idly wondered if he had lost all traced of humanity, and if his mind had regressed and he had given into his animal instincts.
Perhaps that is why he has stopped, thought Mary Lou. He has finally embraced what he has become. I hope so - that will make this so much easier.
As she continued to near him, she realized that even if he resisted her, it would not be a problem. Adam had grown to nearly nine feet, but Mary Lou easily outweighed him. She was not nearly as large as her previous size of nineteen feet, but she estimated herself to be around 13 or 14 feet. She was more than a match for him.
She was smiling as she reached him. She hissed to get his Adam's attention. But her smile rapidly faded, as the sandbar began to move. At first she was confused as to how such a thing was possible. But when the sandbar turned and she saw a head attached to the bulky body, she finally understood what it really was. She would never forget that face - it used to belong to her. Adam swam behind Evelyn, seeking protection from his mate. Evelyn opened her much larger mouth and hissed at Mary Lou. And for the first time in a long time, Mary Lou felt fear.
