Before Mary could think about flying, her new senses picked up on a movement outside her cave. Immediately her sharp eyes swiveled, seeing through the dark. Her keen senses told her there was a human here...strange to her, that instinct thought of this intruder as human and she was not already.
Mary could not speak, but she let out a low sound. It sounded like a growl, but she had meant it as a question. The movement stopped, but Mary could see the outline of a small figure. A little girl stood at the entrance of the cave. She had curly red hair and bright green eyes. She was wearing overalls and sneakers, a sweatshirt over her torso. She stared in awe at the creature before her.
