While everyone in Moon Lake began their Sunday mornings, one man walked into town with a lone backpack on his shoulder. Ron dropped Jeremy off last night. He spent his evening hiding in the woods when he caught sight of the feds. He silently cursed Evan Lawson, knowing he was behind the high security.
“His SEAL friends would be all over me if I hadn’t given them the slip.” Jeremy thought as he walked down a residential street. It was still early, so no one was about yet.
Jeremy knew people would stop and ask him where he was from. He not only smelled weird, but he was clearly an outsider. His beat up clothing, lack of anything but a change of clothing, and a stolen waller filled with cash and ID that didn’t match him, that was enough for a police officer to take him in. And shifting wasn’t a possibility. He’d draw more attention to himself, even if the town was filled with other weres.
Jeremy walked through the town, familiarizing himself with the layout, and his surroundings. It was small, as he expected, but very lively. More so than the were-town he grew up in. Maybe because it was also teeming with military men who wanted nothing more than to put a bullet in the heads of the “monsters”. Just because a human knew about weres, didn’t mean they accepted them.
“Excuse me sir, you dropped this.” A young girl says, having just come out of a small diner. She had beautiful blonde hair, and deep blue eyes. Under any other circumstances, Jeremy would have hit on her. But he’s not here for her, he’s here for Spencer. And he caught the smell of sex on her, and guessed she was either in a relationship, or already had someone to fool around with.
In her small hand, is one of Jeremy’s, really Spencer’s, shirts. It’s beat up, and more a rag than a shirt. But he still carries it for comfort and occasionally to relieve his own need. spencer’s scent is all but burned into it.
“Thank you.” Jeremy said.
“I don’t recognize you. Are you new in town?” The girl asked.
“Not exactly. Just passing through. Looking for someone.” Jeremy said.
“Maybe I can help. Who is it?” she asked.
“I doubt you’ve met her. But I’m looking for a Spencer Lawson…”
“I know her. She goes to school with me!” the girl said quickly. Jeremy’s spirits lift to heaven. He asks where he might find her.
“I can’t give you an exact address, but somewhere near Opal street. It’s that way, take the second left.” The girl says, pointing down the street.
“Thank you so much for your help.”
“Of course. If you don’y mind my asking, what do you want her for?”
“I’m a friend from Virginia.” Jeremy said, not totally lying. The girl nods, and is about to say something else when a woman calls for her.
“Julie, we’re leaving now!” A woman sitting in a blue sedan shouted.
“I’ll let you get on. Thanks again for the help.” Jeremy said. Julie smiled and watched as the strange, yet attractive man jogged off. She hadn’t done anything wrong had she? He said he was a friend of Spencer’s, maybe more than a friend. Julie secretly hoped that she and Eric, as Julie expected they were together again, would have a fight over this man.
Julie didn’t know, of course, that Jeremy Bower was not a friend of the Lawsons. Far from it, he was the closest thing to a enemy. And she’d unknowingly given him a map to their house.”
