A teacher gave you a blanket to cover yourself, saying she had already called your parents, along with an ambulance for Steve, when a sylvan elf appeared out of thin air. This sudden appearance clearly noted her as a goddess, but one that gained her godly stature only recently, judging by how disoriented she was to be in your school.
To your surprise, Sara walked up to said goddess asking “Mom?!? What are you doing here?”
“I'm Gaďa, currently the youngest member of the Serran pantheon. I died giving birth to my little princess here,” said the motherly goddess, seeing the silent question on everyone face.
“MOM!” Interrupted a blushing Sara.
But the goddess pursued her explanation, seemingly unphased by her daughter's outburst. “My inability to take care of Sara devastated me, especially since she had no one to take care of her, father killed two moth prior by human supremacists. Most of the gods and goddesses, including the First, said a mother so devoted to her child was ‘godly material’. So after a bunch of tests, they made me one of them. They also gave me less time outside of Serra, prospecting for souls accepting to be reincarnated here, so I could take care of my daughter.”
You remembered having read about this ‘prospecting of souls’ in Emily's history book. A very long time ago, long before Bastet birth, a grand cataclysm rendered Serra unable to produce any soul, forcing its gods to trap all existent souls into an endless cycle of resurrection and pass most of their existences recruiting new souls in other worlds, the few non-resurrected souls being the one who were offered and accepted godhood.
“That's nice and all,” complained Sara “but we still don't know why you're here, outside of embarrassing me!”
“I'm here to do a job for Bastet, something she couldn't do herself since she is recruiting new souls for our world.” Then, pointing at 10tons Billy, Gaďa added “Taking care of THIS!”
The elvish goddess looked more intensely at Billy. “Hmm… I can't simply take its soul away, it would simply make you more monstrous.” She then grabbed the fat teenager, who slowly changed into a metal pendant at Bastet's effigy. Once Billy had fully changed into a chain with a little cat, Gaďa extracted his soul.
She walked toward the injured Steve and used her power to tend to his wounds, then gave him the Bastet pendent that used to be his brother. “Use it to pray to Bastet if your ever get beaten over your new nature, and she should come help you. …Or if she isn't around, I could be the one helping.”
After all this, Gaďa restored the shredded clothing, (both Emily's and yours) before disappearing like she had come.
