** Side chapter - bj88
“Mom, can I talk to you?” Julie Stovall was standing in the doorway of their family’s living room. Her mother was on the couch, where she’d been sleeping for the past two nights. Melissa put down the book she had in her hands to look at her nervous daughter.
“I suppose.” she said calmly.
Julie sat down in an empty chair. She shifted her pajama bottoms nervously, unsure how to begin, or where to begin.
“Um… can we talk about earlier?” Julie asked.
“You can talk. I don’t have anything else to say on the matter.”
“Okay. Um, I apologized to Eric this afternoon. Right after school.” Julie added so her mother wouldn’t think she snuck out of the house.
“How did it go?”
“Alright I guess. I told him I was sorry I hurt him, and that things weren’t able to work out between us. And he seemed to take everything well.” Julie said. Eric didn’t seem to believe her words entirely, but Julie had been as honest as she could be. If Eric didn’t believe her, that wasn’t her fault (not exactly).
“And now you expect me to revoke your extended grounding?”
“No. I just wanted to talk.”
“I’m listening…” Melissa said, crossing her arms over her chest.
Julie didn’t know how to start. She wanted to tell her mother everything she was feeling, but she wasn’t sure what exactly she was feeling. Hurt, confused, angry, jealous? The list went on and on. So she just started at the beginning.
How she and Eric got close to each other during school. How Eric was the first guy she found interest in, outside the bedroom. He paid attention to her, talked to her, and was interested in more than just her body.
But Eric’s… inexperience proved to be a challenge. Julie was so accustomed to boys throwing themselves at her, and practically begging to jump into bed with her (even if she was only fifteen). Like many weres, she’d been sexually active ever since her first transformation (when she was twelve)*
And then, all of a sudden, she had this great guy who she was falling for. But he didn’t want her, not in THAT way. Julie understood why he wanted to wait, but it was so frustrating. She’d loved Eric, and wanted him in every way possible. But she couldn’t have him. So rather than force him into a change, she decided it was better to have someone else help her. Julie didn’t think much of the cheating because, like her friends said, she thought she had Eric on a pretty tight leash. She figured he’d jump into bed with her with some encouragement.
“I’m sorry if I disappointed you. I know Dad said I didn’t, but… I think right now, to me, your word means more than his.” Julie finished. She sat on her chair, looking at the ground. She didn’t want to see her mother’s face. She was almost positive it was a scowl, or something similar. Far from it, Melissa Stovall looked rather proud of her daughter for admitting her mistakes.
“Julie, I won’t deny, I’m still a bit cross at you for behaving in such a way. You let yourself be blinded by your emotions. You’re a lot like your father in that regard. Passion over logic.” Melissa said.
Julie continued to hang her head in shame.
“But… you’re young And it’s better you make mistakes now, and realize you need to fix them for the future. Apologizing to Eric was the first step, and I’m glad you’ve done it. But I think we need to do something more to prevent this from happening again.”
“Ground me until summer vacation?” Julie thought.
“I had a similar problem when I was your age. I wasn’t a were, but puberty was pretty rough.”
“It was?” Julie asked her mother.
“I had something of a hormone imbalance. Made things a lot more uncomfortable, if you get my drift. Anyway, even for a were your, uh, desires are strong. Now, I’ll revert your punishment back until the end of the year on a few conditions.”
“Anything.”
“First off, I’m taking you to a doctor to find out if you’re just like your father, or if you have an actual medical problem. Second, I want you to promise, that no matter what the doctor may say, you’ll abstain from sex until the summer. Practice some self control.”
“Ok.” Julie said, bobbing her head.
“I mean it Julie, don’t sneak out of the house, don’t do anything at school, and certainly don’t contact Eric Anderson again. Not now anyway.” Melissa said sternly.
“I won’t Mom, I promise. Thank you for the second chance.” Julie said, going over to hug her mother. Melissa returned her daughter’s embrace.
“You and your father have a lot to work on. But I still love you both. You’re my world, no matter how much trouble you cause.” Melissa said, kissing Julie’s head.
*Girls typically hit puberty before guys, so it makes sense that female weres of any kind would transform earlier
