Daniel's "phone" vibrated while he was trying to decide what to do and where to go. Up popped a message from The Scribe, "WHEN I'M DONE WITH YOU, YOU'LL WISH YOU WERE NEVER BORN. MAYBE YOU WON'T BE!!!"
"This guy is a real piece of work." Daniel thought to himself... If he could have forced my hand, he would have by now, so why does he think being nasty to me will encourage me to give it to him?
Not necessarily concerned by the threats, but seeing that there is a new dimension to reality that he is new to and The Scribe is experienced with, dealing with him seems like the appropriate response. Not knowing if The Scribe was originally a human, an alien, or something from another plane of existence he chose his words as carefully as he knew how. Daniel took a few moments before he began typing.
"The being that touched this implement immediately prior to me touching it for the first time, is named Marvin Blake. Although Marvin initially felt angry and dis-empowered at losing the implement, he is now realizing that he had lost touch with humanity and it is time for a successor to become The Scribe in his place. Furthermore, Marvin has been recounting the lives he has ruined and desires to become an ordinary mortal life oblivious to the existence of The Scribe and any other supernatural phenomena. His sense of guilt and responsibility overwhelming him, he wants desperately to find and convey all necessary information to the man who found the implement, turn them into his successor, and beg not to be turned into something humiliating, though Marvin does feel he deserves that. Although Marvin is acutely aware that the implement is being used on him, it does not change his resolve to relinquish his status as The Scribe as he is ashamed of how he abused the implement's powers. Unsuccessfully seeking a distraction from his depressing guilt, Marvin is walking in Central Park. "
Daniel let this sink in hoping that it effected the scribe as quickly and completely as it did Hugo, Greg, and the joggers, assuming it effected him at all... If it didn't effect him, then he has a very pissed off, supernatural being, out to get him. In that case it may be better to just give the implement back and try to get a wish for himself, crafted by someone who knows what they are doing. If it does work, then he is about to learn some amazing secrets to the universe. Wait... theoretically The Scribe can't see me and I will have to be more specific with where he is walking as Central Park is huge. Daniel began writing again, hoping that this was working as he planned.
"Marvin Blake's only solace from his inner turmoil had been focusing on what kind of life he would beg to be given. The thought of having a single lifetime to live, and expunging the supernatural became his one hope for peace. The single lifespan, to Marvin, was significantly more precious than eons and a multitude of lifetimes as The Scribe. Having decided what he wishes he could be, his guilt and shame has convinced him he doesn't deserve such a nice life, though he dares to hope in the good-naturedness of his soon to be successor." Daniel decided that him having a life ready to be written into would be faster.
"Marvin can see Daniel Smith but only if he harbors no ill will towards him. Mentally finalizing the last major details of his desired life, Marvin wanders to the exact location where his successor identifies him. Though Marvin pauses due to being completely preoccupied, he isn't aware of Daniel."
Daniel looked up as The Scribe rounded a turn on a path and was walking up to the bench Daniel was sitting at. He was completely oblivious to his surroundings.
