A Game of Change

Gavin Gets a Beard

added by ChickenPaddy 7 years ago BM

You nod at Gavin. "I'll draw you." You turn to Angela. "Now you pick somebody. It can't be Gavin."

She looks to the three of you with a critical eye. "I suppose I'll be drawing you, then," she says, pointing her marker at you.

Gavin chooses to draw Christi, and you see her ears visibly redden with a blush. As Angela is the only remaining player, Christi is forced to draw her.

You each set about drawing your chosen players. Honestly, you weren't expecting much with the markers and white boards, along with your overall lack of artistic talent. However, you find yourself quickly churning out a surprisingly accurate depiction of Gavin, from his longish hair to his slightly crooked nose. You've impressed yourself to be sure.

You put the finishing touches on your whiteboard masterpiece, looking up to see the others are finishing up as well.

Angela smirks. "You know, I think this looks pretty good, if I do say so, myself. She turns her board around to show you.

You're pretty impressed to say the least. "I didn't know you were an artist."

She shrugs. "Neither did I. Hell, maybe I should've taken those art classes like my mom wanted."

Christi shrugs. "It's not much, Angela, but here's mine."

Angela's eyes widen at Christi's drawing. "Girl! That looks fantastic! You even got my smolder right."

Gavin grins and turns his over, revealing yet another scarily accurate drawing. "Apparently we were all artists and never even knew, eh?"

You feel a bit of nervousness twist in your stomach. Something about this was unsettling. You'd seen Gavin try to draw his character before. It had been impressive for a stick figure, but what he'd just shown you was a far cry better than whatever he'd shown to be capable of before.

You shake the feeling away. "Right. Uh, next we make a small change to our drawings and see if our target can spot the change. I'll go first." You show Gavin your drawing before turning it over and mull over what to alter.

As you try and decide what to change, Christi has a look at the rules. "Hold on. This says that the person drawn must guess what was altered without looking in a mirror. If unable to guess they will lose their next turn. Why can't they look in a mirror? Wait, it also says they can't look at the drawing until after they guess. Then how are they supposed to guess?"

Gavin frowns. "Are you sure you're reading that right?"

As they talk it over, you decide to insert an inconspicuous mole right under his lower lip. You glance up to tell Gavin you're ready, when you notice the very same mole fade into existence on his own face. Gavin must've noticed you staring because he stares back at you.

"What's up?"

"N-nothing!" You rub the new mole out of your drawing with your thumb. The new mole on his face disappears. "No way..."

Gavin looks very confused. "No way what?"

"I... I think I get what it means now." You poise your marker over the board. "Guys, watch this."

You quickly, with a skill you did not posses before, scribble in a chin goatee on your drawing. First stubble, then hair quickly sprouts in on Gavin's chin, perfectly matching in color to his hair.

It takes Angela a moment to notice the new facial hair. When she does she leaps back and out of her chair. Christi's eyes go wide and a hand flies to her mouth.

Gavin's own eyes bug out a bit at his friends' reactions. He spins around to look behind himself. "What? What is it?"

"Oh my god..." Angela mutters.

Christi points to Gavin. "Gavin. It's your face!"

Gavin's hand flies to the center of his face, landing on his nose and missing his chin and its new addition completely. "What? What about my face?"

You hold up a hand to silence the girls. "Eh! He has to guess. That's the whole game."

His hand continues to explore his own face. "What are you talking about? That doesn't-"

His hand finally reaching his chin and the hairs sprouting from it. He frowns, his eyebrows knitting in confusion. His hand ruffles the goatee. He grasps the hairs, tugging on them, softly at first, then harder. He winces in pain as one comes loose. He brings it up to his eyes, examining the the small, white root bulb at the end of it.

"You... you gave me a beard?"

You turn your board around, revealing your drawing of him with a chin goatee. He brushes the somewhat lengthy hairs on his chin before whipping out his phone and turning on its front camera. He examines himself closely. "Man, that's sick!" He grins. "I like it!"

Angela shakes her head, dropping the board back on the table. "I don't know, you guys. This is some creepy-ass stuff right here."

Christi turns her board over in her hands. "How does that even...? It's like it's linked to his face or something. How does that work?"

You gesture at Angela and her empty seat. "Come on, Angela. Don't you think this is awesome. You said you wanted something to do tonight. But, if you want to leave I understand. We'll just go on without you."

Angela glances at Gavin as he plays with his new chin beard, than at you. "Hell no you're not leaving me out. But, just so ya'll know, the minute this starts getting even more freaky, I'm out."

You nod. "Fine, fine. You're next, by the way."

She grins, looking you in the face. "Alright. I think I've got just the thing for you."
