Nate Anderson finished the last of his pop tarts before knocking on and entering the back door to the Ramsey household. There, he joined his boyfriend Alex and his parents for a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs. Although they were in private, everyone present stayed in their human forms despite all being werewolves.
The talk was light and friendly. What the kids thought of their new pack member Tad Decker, how the rest of the meeting, or should they say, orgy went. "Don't be so surprised guys," said Mister Decker. "We were young once too. Besides, how do you think I met your mother Alex?" as he reached out to hold his wife's hand.
Mrs. Ramsey blushed, smiling at her husband. Then changed the subject by asking what the boys had planned for today.
Before Alex could answer, Nate announced that his father had inquired whether or not he could bring a date (Alex) to the Skulk induction ceremony tonight, but had not heard a reply before having to leave for work. "He'll text me as soon as he gets an answer Alex," he told his beau, not using his pet name for him in front of Alex's parents.
"Okay. I'll lay out some formal attire for tonight, just in case before we take off," replied Alex.
"Take off to where?" wondered Nate.
"I've been thinking about our future," revealed Alex.
Nate started to smile at that, but his boyfriend quickly added, "Not that part, although you ARE on my mind a lot as it is. You haven't lived long enough in Moon Lake to know this Nate, but whenever the local schools are closed for something like today's Teachers' In Service, the college opens its doors to those in high school who want to look around and discuss their futures. So I thought, especially considering we'll be Seniors next year, Deities and Grades willing, that we could go there and try to get some idea of what we want to do with the rest of our lives," explained Alex.
"Will that rest of our lives part include me and you together?" asked Nate, looking intently at Alex.
"As long as you want it and me," replied Alex.
The two werewolves in love started moving closer to kiss when someone said "AHEM!"
They turned to see Alex's parents staring at them.
"As sweet as that is, you are at the breakfast table," said Mrs. Ramsey.
Nate and Alex simply blushed before they resumed eating.
After breakfast, Nate stayed to help Mrs. Ramsey clean up while Alex ran upstairs to lay out some clothes for tonight. Nate seriously thought about going with his boyfriend, but knew that both of them might get... "distracted" by other things if he did.
What Nate didn't know was that Mr. Ramsey was upstairs with his son.
"You really like that Anderson boy, don't you?" he asked, while Alex was trying to decide what to wear tonight if he did wind up being Nate's date to the Skulk gathering. Mr. Ramsey remained standing in the open doorway to Alex's room while watching his son.
"Honestly Dad? Like isn't a strong enough word," admitted Alex, as he set a pair of black slacks aside and started trying to figure out what shirt and tie was the best combo.
"So, have the two of you talked about life... beyond high school?" wondered his father.
"Some," revealed his son, "although nothing too specific. Nate has this dream about becoming the mascot for the Minnesota Timber Wolves and I still want to do something in the food industry. In time I still want to work my way up to own my own restaurant, although something more along the lines of the local diner than one of those fancy smancy eateries."
"I see. But while those are great dreams, and I do hope they all come true, I was wondering more along the lines of you guys' personal future."
"OH?" asked Alex, turning to look at his father. He put down the clothing he had and then said, "Dad... I know it's been harder on you and mom at times raising a gay son than it would a straight daughter, but Nate Anderson is the one for me. We've gotten past the 'sex all the time' stage and started finding out more about each other. Last night, we didn't stay that long at the pack... meeting beyond welcoming the new guy. We started walking back home, sat under a tree and actually talked for quite a while. I love him!" declared Alex.
"Your mother and I were starting to suspect that. This is the longest you've been in a relationship since you had your first transformation. We want you to be happy, but whether you're 16 or 116, you're still our son and we're always going to worry and care about you."
"So....?"
"Whatever happens between you and Nate Anderson, you have our blessing," revealed his father, to which his son ran over and hugged him.
Soon Nate was in Alex's car as he started driving to Moon Lake College.
"You know," began Nate, now that they were alone, "I had the oddest conversation with your mother."
"Oh?" asked Alex, as he pulled over to the first open curb space and parked the car for a moment.
Then he turned to look at his beau and said, "Guess what Stud?"
"What Handsome?" asked Nate in return, using his pet name for Alex as he stared at his boyfriend.
"I'm in love and my folks approve!" answered Alex, before giving Nate a very passionate kiss.
When they finished kissing, Alex smiled and said, "Don't go picking out china patterns just yet, but welcome to the family!"
Then the two of them had another serious talk about the future as Alex resumed driving to Moon Lake College.
