Several minutes earlier, just after Mary entered the bathroom......................................
After Mary entered the bathroom, Jess continued to examine herself in the mirror. She flexed her muscles, turned around to examine her tail, and gently brushed her fur. She looked good, and she was very happy, but she was just a little disappointed. Although she was big, she was not as massive as the examples of Cerberus she had seen in movies and books. After all, it had to be huge to guard the gates of Hades.
"I wish we had gotten bigger, " said her left head, unexpectedly.
Jess turned her head - the head in the middle of the Cerberus - with shock and asked, "What?"
Her left head repeated, "I said I wish we were bigger. Can't you hear me?"
Jess was concerned. Although she had shared the same thought, she hadn't meant to vocalize it. It was almost as if the head was operating independently. She focused on the left head, and found she could still see through its eyes. But it was much more difficult than before, and gave her a painful headache as a well as a very funny feeling.
Her left head shook slowly, then said," Owww ... what was that? I don't think we should try that again." Jess shook her own head - the one in the center - and slowly her headache went away and her vision cleared. She was getting concerned. Suddenly, she felt her right hand rubbing her right head. She didn't remember trying to do that. What was going on? The odd feeling was getting worse, and she didn't like it. In fact, she was starting to get a little scared. She tried focusing on the right head, and the headache started to return. But after several minutes, she still could not access its vision and she gave up. She focused on her right hand instead, and forced herself to lower her arm. As Jess looked back at the mirror, she saw that her left head had been watching the entire process, with a look of curiosity. Suddenly, her left arm rose and the fingers of her left hand wiggled as the left head smiled.
Jess was really worried now. This was not what she had wanted. She envied to power and strength of Cerberus, but she thought that she would be the one in control. Now she was beginning to feel a little helpless, and the thought scared her.
"Relax, "said her left head. "There's nothing to be afraid of. I'm still you," she said.
Jess was getting really confused now. The left head knew what she feeling, and possibly thinking. Did they share thoughts, or did she just feel the same feelings coursing through their shared body. Or were they all really just thinking the same thing? Were they different personalities born from the same shared memories, now developing into independent individuals? Or were they really the same thoughts just in three different heads? Was she really even the real Jess, or was her real personality in one of the other heads? Thinking about it made her head hurt.
"Just don't think about it," said the left head, as she continued examining the left hand, turning the wrist left and right. "What difference does it make?"
Jess's thoughts were interrupted by the feelings of soft fur under her right hand. Her silent right head appeared to have recovered from her previous attempt to access its vision, and was apparently using the right arm to run her hand through her pelt.
