Jeff pressed the button.
A look of pure horror washed over her as she could feel reality changing around and within her. A few seconds passed and everything... seemed the same. She rushed to the bathroom staring at herself in the mirror unable to see what had changed.
"What did you do to me!?"
"Oh, Nothing you would notice for a long time..." Jeff said lightly, pretending that he wasn't going to say.
"Tell me NOW!" she screeched.
"OK, but I'll have to show you." Jeff pulled out his phone and began recording. "Here, read for yourself." Jeff lightly tossed the chronivac to his sister. She caught it easily and quickly pointed it at Jeff... Jeff rolled his eyes, "It's still set to change you... it would just reapply the settings... to you."
She glanced at the screen and a fog covered her face, she set the Chronivac down and began playing with her stuffed animals like Jeff wasn't even there.
Jeff walked over and picked up the device, this caught her attention and she looked up and said, "Hey! you never told me what you did to me, I NEED TO KNOW!"
Jeff calmly smiled and said, "Of course." He sat down next to her on the bed and replayed the video.
"What was that?"
"My protection. If you possess it for 10 seconds, try to read the display, or change a setting, you will immediately become distracted, set it down, and move on with your day, temporarily forgetting that it exists."
"Well I'm going to tell Mom and Dad, they will make you share it with me, ESPECIALLY after I tell her what you did with it!"
"They would try to take it away from me, and I would try to keep it... I would use the device to try to keep possession of it. That means Mom and Dad may not stay Mom and Dad. I might have to turn them into puppies so I can continue to make my life better. But, you don't need to worry about that, Just like you can't use the device, neither can they or anyone else that isn't me, until I die. Also, you can only talk to me about it, if you try to write about it you will scribble out your words, talking about it where other people or even cameras can hear you, will come out as jibberish."
She pondered for a moment, liking the idea of having puppies but not liking the idea of losing her parents. All in all it wasn't that bad of a punishment, but she couldn't say that. "Fine Jerkface, keep your stupid thing. Get out of my room."
Jeff coolly stated, "There's more." After pausing for a moment, "None of that is a punishment, for how you acted."
She sat there silently, she knew it was very wrong of her to force another person to be unable to do anything for themselves. She had the upper hand, she should have used it better... maybe make him mentally an infant or... something. But she really did enjoy tormenting Jeff. Knowing that he recognized her, and the camera, and couldn't help but poo his pants made her feel better about herself, somehow.
"Since you didn't appreciate adulthood when I gave it to you, you are no longer aging. For every second that passes, you get one second younger. For every second that passes I am getting two seconds older. You made me realize that I want love and security but feel trapped between child and adulthood. Because you happened to help me realize what I want, I won't leave you unaging forever. When I become 21... or older if I use the device... we will begin aging normally again. Our birth certificates will change to reflect our new ages and reality will warp to make things seem normal to everyone around us..."
Jeff smirked as she tried to understand what that meant to her. "You will go from being one of the older kids in your grade to being the youngest and smallest, then, one day, you will forget everything you learned in the last year and start going to third grade again, you will lose all the friends you had, but you MIGHT make new ones... then, next year, you will start the same grade again, and then the same thing will happen." That's when she began to break down and cry.
Jeff stood up and walked out.. excited for the day he magically knew an extra year of high school and got his drivers license. Jeff failed to mention that he set things up so that the effect will reverse when he reaches 28. This would speed both of them through college which would leave their parents with a sizable nest egg because they only had to pay for 4 years of college between the two of them... It would also give him two extra years in his 20s and therefore more time to build his security and find love. Who wouldn't want to speed through the awkward teen years and get extra time in their 20's? The next three years will be interesting.
