Buzzing was a different sensation for Brad. It tingled something inside him, above his stomach at the end of his esophagus. He was hearing the sounds nearer and nearer. The swarm would be upon them any minute. Suddenly it appeared. Brad could distinguish them: there sede flies, dragonflies, beetles, bees, wasps, butterflies and moths. They were flying over his head and he was feeling the urge to catch them. His mouth was filling with saliva...but Brad onde that would be disgusting. The other frog did not think twice, he flickered his tongue and caught a bunch of them.
"Dude, if I were you I wouldn't think twice" the frog croaked.
Brad felt his body betraying himself. He opened his mouth with a guilty feeling like he was sinning. His frog tongue, before he could think about it, was shooting towards the sky, hopping to catch some bugs.
The first was the common fly. Brad was intrigued: how could such a nasty, dirty bug taste so good. It was crunchy, the interior was soft and everything reminded him of a popcorn. Secondly he looked for a dragonfly, when he spottted one his tongue shot and caught it. It was more dificult to get in his mouth. It was crunchy too but nas a spicey taste to it, like chili con carne.
He looked at the other side and saw the other frog staring at him with a smile.
"I didn't like the dragonflies in the beggining either. You'll get used to them!"
"But I don't want to like any of them" Brad cried, until his tongue blasted and caught a beetles. It was crunchy and it had soft parts on the inside. It tasted like black liquishore. His tongue them caught a fly and another one and another one...until he got a bee in his mouth. It was furry, it felt strange against his mouth. The bee tasted like Doritos for some reason.
"You'll learn to like it" the other frog croaked.
Brad caught a butterfly passing by near him. It was soft as silk and tasted like milk and honey.
"This isn't so bad" Brad agreed.
For desert the other frog told him to have the wasps who for Brad's surprise tasted like oreos.
The swarm eventually faded and Brad stood in the same place, with a full belly and a broken ego. His instincts had betrayed him badly.
