Julie is brought back into her room, and effectively placed on lockdown. Two guards stand outside her door, while the nurses give her enough drugs to knock out two fully grown werewolves. They strap her arms and legs to the bed for good measure.
“Girl’s some kind of nuts, trying to make a run for it.” One of the guards comments as he watched the nurses work inside.
“That’s the mayor’s kid right?” The other guard asked.
“Think so. I mean, she’s a weremer, there aren’t too many of those around here.” The Doberman weredog said.
“Wonder what’s wrong with her? I was always under the impression she was, you know, pretty normal as far as stuff like that goes.”
“You didn’t hear?”
“Hear what?”
“She and one of the Anderson kids were going out. He just joined Austin Perry’s pack. And, well, she didn’t react well to that.”
“Oh come on, her boyfriend becoming a werewolf made her go bananas?” The guard laughs at the idea. It seems so outrageous, even though it’s the truth.
“Guess so. Weremers and their love at first sight crap is pretty intense. Got a friend who used to go to school with Martin. Said the guy was a wreck trying to get Melissa.”
“Damn. Glad I’m not a mer then.”

At the Tachibana residence, Tora woke to see his wife talking on the phone with someone. Both were still in their fox forms. She held out the phone for him, whispering that it was work.
“Tora here.” he said.
“I’m sorry to disturb you at this hour Dr. Tachibana. But we’ve got a situation with the Stovall girl.” the nurse said. As she relayed what happened only minutes ago, Tora began to change back, and dress.
“How is she now?” he asked, pulling a pair of pants on.
“Stable, but she’s fighting against any sedatives we put in her. The nurse who had been monitoring her gave her a double dose, but she still managed to burn through it. Her metabolism is off the charts. We gave her enough sedative to knock out several werewolves, and yet the girl is still on the verge of waking.”
“Incredible. Just try to keep her calm, and more importantly unconscious until I get there. And warm up the MRI machine. I want to know what’s going on in her head. Her parents already gave us the go ahead to perform the tests. And on that note, have you notified her parents yet?”
“We weren’t sure if this warranted their presence. There’s not much they can do but worry.” The nurse said.
“True. Do you think her life is in any immediate danger?”
“Only if she tries to escape and find this Eric again.”
“Well, we might have to give her what she wants.”
“Doctor..?”
“I’ll be there in ten minutes, just remember what I said. Keep her calm and unconscious for the time being. And if things start to deteriorate call her parents.” Tora said once more before hanging up. His wife had his car keys in hand, and kissed his cheek for support. She was still in her vixen form.
“Thank you. I’ll be back as soon as I can.” he said.
“Be safe.” was all she said. Tora nodded and departed. As he left, he dialed Francis Twists’ number, hoping she wasn’t too comfortable. This case with Julie Stovall was getting more and more complicated with every passing hour.
“Hello?” Francis Twist sounded wide awake, which was good considering what needed to be done.
“Sorry to bother you again Dr. Twist, this is Dr. Tachibana. We have a bit of a development regarding Julie Stovall.”
“Nothing good I would assume from your tone.” Francis sighed. She, Samantha and Martha were still lying in a pile on the forest floor. They’d moved into the woods after the car got too crowded. Still in their fursonas, Martha and Samantha remained asleep. Francis had woken up several minutes earlier, and went to check her phone for messages from Ben. The only one she’d gotten from his said he’d dropped Eric and Cassie off at the latter’s house, and was going for a “run”.
She sat in the backseat of the car while Tachibana relayed everything the nurse told him, and then his own plans.
“I’ll be over as soon as I can. But I’m not sure where Eric is at the moment. This being the first night since his transformation, he’s probably busy.” Francis said carefully.
“It’s not a necessity to have him present, we could wait until morning to try that part of the plan. Provided Julie remains in the hospital.” Tachibana added.
If he’d known the girl was that agitated, he would have taken steps to ensure she was knocked out for at least twelve hours. The nurse said her brain activity kept fluctuating. Which only furthered his desire to learn what was going through her head while she was unconscious. There was no concrete way to discern this without directly asking Julie, but he could still make plenty of educated guesses.
“If I can find him, should I bring him too?”
“Again, it’s not a necessity. But yes, if Eric is willing to. I can’t imagine what kind of stress this situation is putting on him.” Tachibana said.
“Neither can I, but I know that despite Julie’s objections to his transformation, and choices, he does still care about her. He’ll do anything to help.”
“Very commendable. And the boy wants to go into law enforcement? I think he’ll do very well.”
“I agree. Let’s just hope the first person he helps doesn’t end up dead, or worse.” Francis said grimly. Because the only thing worse than Julie dying, would be reducing her to a vegetable. And if these outbursts continued, they might have to to keep her from hurting herself, or anyone else.
