Unaware of what was going on with Julie Stovall at Moon Lake General Hospital, Eric Anderson and Cassie O'Sullivan were having a GREAT time together!
The two teenagers were not only fellow werewolves, but in either form had fallen in love together.
Upon waking up after the vigorous sex session that ended with Eric mounting Cassie from behind to "claim" his she-wolf, the two of them were now romping through the woods behind her house, more interested in each other's company and continued intimacy than where they were headed.
Ben Twist hated to say goodbye to the white furred weretigress Sasha Myers, but knew his mother wouldn't have called him unless it was important.
While he couldn't say if there was anything more between them at the moment than the moment they had (and the great sex), Ben only gave Sasha a quick kiss and promised he'd see her at school Monday before parting company.
Back at his car, he threw his things into the front passenger seat, adjusted the driver's seat to accommodate his much larger werewolf frame, and drove back to Cassie's house.
Under other circumstances, Ben would have changed back into his normal form and got dressed first, but was under the impression that time was of the essence in finding Eric and bringing him back to the hospital.
"So, this is the actual Moon Lake," said Eric, looking out over the crystal clear water, lit by the partial moon in the sky. "Seen it in photos, first time to actually be here for me."
The impromptu trail of fun, conversation, and sex had led them here, as the two werewolves stood on the shoreline, holding paws while staring out at the lake.
"My folks used to come out here all the time. Mom's never bothered doing so again since dad was killed. Too many memories I guess," said Cassie, while moving closer to her beau. "It took me a while to work up the nerve to return myself, but I come out here now on a regular basis to stare out at the water and be alone with my thoughts."
"And what was that like?" asked Eric in a tender voice while putting a furry arm around her.
"Mixed," admitted Cassie. "The unfairness of life. Wondering what the future holds. How things would be different if dad was still with us."
"I understand," said Eric, while moving to hold his new girlfriend.
"I thought you would," said Cassie as she wrapped her arms around him and laid her head upon Eric's shoulder. "There is one thing I am sure of," she whispered in his ear. "I'm not alone any more."
Eric felt her body shudder as he held her tighter.
Ben parked his car in front of the O'Sullivan house and looked over the situation.
The house was totally dark, meaning either no one was home or at least Mrs. O'Sullivan was asleep.
Not wanting to disturb her unless absolutely necessary, Ben walked around to the back of the house and, after seeing the two piles of discarded clothing, picked up Eric and Cassie's scent trails heading into the forest.
Despite everything that was going on, a smile crossed his muzzle as the werewolf started following them. Since she came from a similar background of happiness, loss, and trying to move on with her life; Ben suspected the young she-wolf would be a good match for Eric Anderson, but never realized how quickly or strongly they would fall in love as he came across the spot where Cassie allowed herself to be "claimed" by Eric.
Oh my! So that joyous howling I heard earlier* WAS them! he realized. I wish you two all the best, for I think you and Cassie make a great couple, but I still have to find you right now Eric in hope of saving Julie's life, thought Ben, as he resumed tracking them.
Eric didn't know how long he had already stood there just holding and comforting Cassie in his arms, but he was prepared to do so as long as she needed him to.
In fact, he couldn't think of anywhere else in the entire universe he would rather be than right there with the girl he loved, and hoped they would always have just as many beautiful romantic moments like this as they would rounds of fantastic sex and other happy times in their lives together.
But they say life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.
While it was still a few hours before dawn and the mandatory return to their human forms in public, the sound of someone stepping on and snapping a twig broke the romantic moment between them.
Cassie and Eric both raised their heads to see....
