Mind your Curse

added by Unnamed 7 years ago A

A curse is something powerful and complex, to the point of having a mind of its own, supposedly to ensure its working as intended. But sometime, said mind can prevent it from working as it should.

Like for the one in this story, who remember how Jane's father accepted said curse as part of him, how proud he was to be a werewolf. And while Jill wasn't exactly proud of her wolf side, she only hated the drawbacks that came with it. Truth be told, she deeply missed her canine part on a new moon, grateful to know it will be back in the morning. (Even if Jill will never admit it.)

Why it should stay part of an ungrateful bastard like Jane, when it already was part of someone that accepted it, like Jill, and could even be part of someone WANTING it, like Sally and Billy?

So the curse extended part of itself outside of Jane, becoming a lava-lamp like tendril of light and darkness, slipping through the cracks of the secret prison toward the happy family. But instead of directly connecting with the two kids, it start rippling, to produce a voice-like sound, explaining what it was and what it was about to do, before politely asking for approval from the stunned family.

The young ones were overjoyed by the possibility, deaf to the warning than, once they become werewolves, they would be for the rest of their lives, even if they don't like it anymore.

All this prompted their father to ask “If they're all going to be werewolves, wouldn't it be better if I'm also one? Can you change me too?”

“Sorry,” answered the curse “but I came from your wife's side of the family, which mean I can only be transmitted to HER blood relatives. And your youngest child isn't old enough to voice any desire of being a werewolf or even understand the concept so I won't become part of her, which mean she'll need you to be HUMAN when the moon is full.” After that, the curse insisted on how, once they are werewolves, the kids will be werewolves for the rest of their lives, like it or not, but again neither Sally or Billy seemed to understand how it could be a bad thing.

At first, when Jane woke up in her cage, she thought the event of the night were a nightmare. Then she got out of her cage, using an opening system too sophisticated for her wolfish self.

The first thing she should have noticed was the fact it was still night, the moon shining in her full glory. But being greeted by the sight of two wolf-cubs playing together under the careful watch of an older one, along with the sleepy one of her husband, was far to disturbing for her to notice anything else.
