The place was huge! Bigger than the high school gym.

"We're part of the Open House from Moon Lake High today and just wanted to take a look around. Would it be okay to ask what the costs of books would be for first year students?" wondered Alex.
"No problem," replied Steve, "what field of study?"
Soon Nate discovered that the first year books for becoming a teacher would run him close to $300 with writing adding another $75, while Alex was looking at almost $195 just for cooking, with a potential minor in business bringing the total closer to $450.
"Why so expensive?" Alex couldn't help asking.
"Well, they are specialized fields of study," pointed out Steve, "and of course, I'm sure you're aware this would just be for the main courses. Any electives, let alone gen-ed classes would be additional."
"Gen-ed?" asked Nate.
"General Education. Math, Science, English," replied Steve.
"Oh."
Nate and Alex continued to look around. The original plan was to buy a tote bag the two could share, but soon Nate found something special he wanted to give Alex instead, so while his boyfriend's back was turned quickly made his purchase, using the sale bag to hold his brochures from today's tour as well.
With nothing else to do, Nate stood by the front door, waiting for Alex, who was soon making a purchase of his own.
As Alex was walking back toward Nate, Steve was following him. "Listen, I don't normally do this, but what grade are you two in?" he asked.
"We're juniors," replied Alex.
"Damn!" complained Steve. "Well, I'll only be third year when you two start here. Be sure to look me up when you come back." Then he gave both of them a quick kiss on the cheek before going back inside the book store.
"Oh my," was all Nate could say, as they watched Steve walk away. "Have you ever thought of—" he started to ask Alex.
But his boyfriend quickly replied, "That is a discussion for another time. Come on. Your dad's next class starts at 4, and it's 3:45 now."
As they started to make their way back to Professor Anderson's classroom, Nate said, "I got you something."
"What? Me too," said Alex, surprised. "Do you want to go first or should we go together?"
"Together. Always," replied Nate, giving Alex a quick kiss before reaching into his bag.
Nate saw that Alex was using his sale bag to hold his brochures as well, as both boys pulled out...
"An over sized lanyard like Ben wears?" they said, practically in unison, shocked that they both bought the same thing.
"Yeah. We could start wearing our cellphones the way he does, and they're big enough to keep them on even when we wolf out," replied Nate.
As they put their respective lanyards on over each other, Nate looked deep into Alex's eyes and began to ask, "Does this mean..."
"Together. Always," replied Alex, before they shared an intimate kiss in the college corridor.
After their lips parted, the two held hands as they walked to their next destination.
