Cindy ran into the house excitedly, almost out of breath. She had never run that fast before. She thought it was probably due to her longer stride.
"My, that was quite a run, " said Mary, as Cindy entered the kitchen. "You were gone all morning, and you missed lunch. Would you like me to make you something?"
Cindy was famished, but she was too excited.
"Look, Mary. I've grown!" said Cindy.
"I know you have, and we're all glad, " said Mary. Mary knew Cindy was going to grow, and when she returned she was happy to see that Cindy had not become a giant freak or something. She was really worried by Cindy's long absence, and had considered going to look for her. But now that Cindy was back, and seemed to be a normal size, everything looked like it was going to be okay.
"No, you don't understand. I have really grown a lot this time. I think I might be taller than you! Measure me!" said Cindy excitedly.
Mary turned and really looked at her. They looked to be about the same height. That wasn't too bad, she could live with that. Then Mary realized that she was wearing shoes, and Cindy was holding hers in her hand. Could Cindy actually be taller now? Was she once again the little sister? Mary quickly fiddled with the drawer and pulled out a tape measurer. Mary tried to measure Cindy, but she kept fidgeting. It looked like Cindy was 5'8", but she couldn't be sure.
"Stop moving around! I can't get an accurate measurement," said Mary angrily.
"Sorry, but I am just so excited I can't keep still," said Cindy.
As Cindy leaned against the wall and pulled herself up to her full height it looked like she was growing before Mary's eyes. The ruler now read 5'9". Was it her imagination, or was Cindy still growing?
"I think we need to call Dr. Johnson. This doesn't seem normal. It never happened before, " said Mary. She was about to confess her deception when Cindy interrupted her.
"Well, I have a confession to make. I took an extra dose today. That's probably why I grew a little more, " said Cindy.
"Cindy! How could you! You know that is dangerous. We have to tell Dr. Johnson right away. You could get hurt, " said Mary as she pulled out her cellphone.
Cindy yanked the cellphone out of her hands. "You aren't calling anyone. There is nothing wrong with me. I feel fine. Great , in fact. I just finally got the growth spurt I was denied for so long. So it was a few more inches than we expected? What's the big deal? You are just jealous that you aren't the only big one around here anymore. Now I am the big sister again. Don't worry. You can keep your precious Mark. Plenty more where that came from. I was getting quite a lot of attention in the park. Now, I am going to take a shower to wash off all this yucky sweat. And I don't want you calling anyone while I am gone, " said Cindy, taking Mary's cellphone with her.
She walked into the bathroom, whistling a happy tune. She passed Mark, and he did a quick double take as she passed.
"Was that your sister? She looks much taller. That treatment really does wonders," said Mark.
Mary pouted, afraid of losing Mark.
"What's the matter?" asked Mark.
"Oh nothing. Just kiss me, " said Mary, she leaned forward and gave him a passionate kiss.
They could hear the sound of the shower starting in the bathroom.
