"So, isn't it odd that we're both dating werepanthresses," began Eric, trying to carefully phrase his comments. This might not be the best time to talk to Nate about Kenya, but when there ever would be a better chance was unknown, so the younger Anderson decided to take the risk. "Yet it's also odd that neither of our girlfriends are true werepanthresses either."
"What do you mean?" asked Nate.
"Well, as a natural born hybrid, Spencer is both werewolf AND werepanthress," Eric said proudly, while putting an arm around his girlfriend, which created a smile across her muzzle. "Yet her mother isn't 100% panthress either, because there's also some werecat on Mrs. Lawson's side of their family tree."
"Oh," said Nate, realizing what his brother was getting at.
"During dinner Kenya said she favors the panthress too, but admitted there was some wereleopard in her family tree, yet you could only see the spot pattern in her fur depending upon how the light hit it," recalled Eric.
"Yeah," said Nate with a smile, thinking about his girlfriend's sleek furry form laying across the satin sheets of her bed, in his arms and...
"Is there anything else in Kenya's family tree?" asked Eric, as if genuinely curious and not trying to further some hidden agenda. Which he actually was.
"Huh?" said Nate, abruptly coming out of his daydream. "What? Oh. No. Panthers and leopards are it, as far as I know. Her family can trace its roots all the way back to Africa, so if there is anything else, it's all big cats. Why?"
"Just curious. After all, Spencer knows her dad is 100% werewolf. What about the lady that turned you?" asked Eric, trying to deflect the conversation away from his true purpose, finding out more about Kenya Adaeze.
"Oh, she was VERY much ALL werewolf," said Nate, recalling Sandy. It had been a great couple of weeks that summer, between the she-wolf inducting him into were society and then all their fun afterward. Until her unmentioned boyfriend came back from his family vacation...
The brothers Anderson and Spencer Lawson talked for a while longer, until she pointed out that it was time to be walked home for the night, although how long Eric would stay at her place until or if he decided to come back home remained unspoken.
Leaving Nate's bedroom, Eric paused to get the travel bag from his room. He knocked on his parents' bedroom door, interrupting their own fun just long enough to announce he was walking Spencer home, then secured the front door on their way out.
Since it was well after dark, Spencer's fursona could be seen in public. "You know, as much as I love being a were, I can't wait till the x-rays Sunday say it's okay for me to get rid of this damn sling and shift back. Part of me actually misses being in clothes."
"Well, I happen to love you period. Dressed or nude, with or without fur," said Eric sheepishly, before kissing Spencer on her muzzle.
"I appreciate the compliment Slugger," said Spencer, using her pet name for him, "but I don't think you'd like me during my periods. I can be a real bitch then."
"What? You? I'm shocked," replied Eric, looking directly at his girlfriend.
"Yep. You're definitely a keeper," said Spencer, kissing him again.
"Seriously though Spencer, I've seen you at the worst of times already between Bower Junior and Senior. I'd love to see you at the best of times, and every moment in between," admitted Eric.
"Is it any wonder I love you Eric Anderson?"
"No. Because I love you too Spencer Lawson."
The two walked hand in paw for a bit, silently enjoying the moment, until Eric asked, "So, what do you think?"
"About this Kenya? It looks promising," replied Spencer. "We still have to confirm that she explores women at times by choice and not because of some were trait that would be passed on if she's the one who winds up inducting you into were society. Then we also have to find out if she's willing to help us make you a were. That could wind up being tricky now because even if Kenya and Nate weren't in the middle of... whatever it is they are in the middle of right now," said Spencer, not sharing her speculations as to what it was, "getting her to help us turn you might create problems between them."
"Yeah. That thought crossed my mind too," conceded Eric. "Well, one day at a time, and we'll cross that bridge when we come to it," he said, pulling Spencer closer to him. "But as long as I can be with the one I love..."
Then the two wound up in a long embrace and kissing session. Anyone who happened to pass by and see a regular human boy kissing a mixed hybrid female were might find it odd, but Spencer and Eric didn't.
They were in love, and that's all that mattered.
