The Lawsons got up early to keep Spencer's appointment at the hospital.
Her father had backed their car into the garage the day before and now, with the door closed, Spencer came through the back door that connected the garage with the kitchen, got into the back seat, and hid under the blanket to keep from being seen in her were form. There was a small suitcase beside her with a change of normal clothing in hopes she could return home less conspicuously.
Her grandfather Mike stayed in the house, as much to keep an eye on the place because of whoever was driving that mysterious black sedan, besides the fact there wasn't enough room for all of them under the present circumstances.
Upon arriving at Moon Lake General Hospital, Evan briefly parked at the loading dock where they would normal receive supplies, and two orderlies accompanied by a security guard helped Mrs. Lawson sneak her daughter in while everyone else kept watch.
After Spencer was safely within the building, Evan moved his vehicle to regular parking.
"Okay!" said the doctor, looking at the developed film taken of Spencer's right arm. "So far, so good. No sign of any fractures at all!"
"GREAT!" replied Spencer, as a smile crossed her muzzle.
"Yes, but that was just phase one," the doctor reminded her. "Now, I'd like you to slowly change back, to make sure there's no discomfort or outright pain. Then we'll take x-rays of your arm normally. If those are good as well, then I'll have you change back into your were form one more time and we'll x-ray you once more to make sure your arm can fully withstand the physical stress of transformation."
"And if it can?" wondered Spencer.
"Then hopefully this will be our last visit for quite a while and you can go on about your life," replied the doctor.
"Nothing personal doc, but I've been looking forward to that for a while now. And I know the first thing I'm going to do when I get home."
"Oh?" asked her mother, believing it had something to do with Eric Anderson.
"Yes," said Spencer, turning to look at Maggie. "I am going to take a VERY LOOOONNNNGGGG, bare skinned bubble bath!"
Her mother couldn't help but smile at that answer.
IT WAS AFTER ONE that afternoon when William asked Eric to come downstairs.
Not knowing what else to do besides hang by his cellphone waiting for a call from Spencer, her boyfriend had decided to stay in his room and putter awhile.
His mother had gone to see Jenny Harper-Jenkins while Nate had taken off after breakfast, presumably to see what the status of his relationship with Kenya was, but he never officially said anything before leaving.
After Nate's revelations about Kenya, Kendra, or whatever her real name was last night; Eric had been doing some serious thinking about his own life and relationships. In the end, it came down to two things.
One: that Julie Stovall treated him wrongly, Eric was glad he had broken up with her, and that while he might be polite to her when necessary, he never wanted anything to do with the were-mermaid ever again, even if she was the Mayor's daughter.
Two, and perhaps the most important of all: Eric Anderson truly loved Spencer Lawson.
True, the fact she was a hybrid were and he still a normal at the moment was something they would eventually have to find a solution to, but so far so good. The young couple had fallen in love as is, and while giving her that pink plastic toy ring as a "promise ring" might have been a little premature and rash on his part, the more Eric thought about it, the more he actually looked forward to seeing Spencer and actually making a life with her over the months and years to come.
They had a LOT more in common than Eric ever had with Julie and, as difficult as it was picturing specific events in the decades ahead, he could really see himself loving and growing old together with the hybrid were wolf/panthress-cat.
His father repeating the request for Eric to come downstairs snapped the boy out of his daydreams.
Coming down the steps, Eric asked his father what he needed, only to have William announce his son had a visitor.
That was when Eric looked and saw Spencer Lawson standing by their close front door.
She was in her human form, wearing a white dress that paled in comparison to her own beauty.
But what caught Eric's attention the most was the pink plastic toy ring dangling from a chain around Spencer's neck just below the lower curve of her bosom.
With a big smile on his face, Eric rushed to his girlfriend and they started passionately kissing each other, even as Spencer wrapped both of her arms around him.
