Murmuring a wish under my breath, I reached into my backpack and pulled out the device I had just wished into existence. "I found this thing last night and I wanted to see if I could figure out what it was." I explain. The object in question was an egg shaped device, about the size of an apple. Covered in lime-green lights and colored with a smooth white finish, it looked quite alien. Predictably, Jessie was immediately interested. "Can I see?" she asked as I set it on the workbench. I motioned for her to take a look and backed away. She picked up the egg and began inspecting it, suddenly the lights all lit up uniformly and began to brighten as the egg emitted a humming sound. Startled, Jessie dropped it, but it didn't fall. The egg was left floating in the air. Jessie took a few steps back her eyes never leaving the alien device. Suddenly, the humming stopped and the lights quickly slid across the surface of the egg, creating a circle pointing Jessie. Jessie turned towards me pleadingly as I feigned amazement, then the lights flashed. Jessie shrieked as the light flared a blinding green, and when my vision cleared her clothes were gone. Covering herself quickly, Jessie backed away from the device until she hit a wall. The device maintained it's distance though, never getting farther or closer to her as she backpedaled. Jessie stayed against the wall for a tense moment, staring at the device. When nothing happened she turned towards me, "What's happening?" She whimpered. Before I had a chance to respond the egg shot forward and hit her in her sternum, just above her breasts. It appeared to fuse halfway through her, leaving half the egg exposed and the rest somehow imbedded in her. Understandably, she freaked out, scratching at the device and trying to pull it out to no avail. Then the plastic sheen started to spread. It started slowly, leaking out from the edges of the egg, then quickly accelerated. Jessie didn't notice it until it covered her hands and by then it was only a short few seconds before the rest of her skin had the same smooth plastic white as the egg; even her hair was coated. Right as it finished Jessie's movement stopped. She briefly held her pose, then collapsed with her back on the floor, the egg facing up. As this happened her bright blue eyes blinked out of existence, leaving only a white surface indistinguishable from the rest of her body. Finally, the lights on the egg swiveled around to be facing forward. Flaring a bright green once more, a holographic button materialized above Jessie.
With that over, I grinned, strolled over to Jessie and knelt next to her. Looking closer at the floating button, I discovered it said "Begin Setup", so I tapped it. The text changed to scanning and light briefly swept around the room before centering on me. "Lifeform detected" a synthesized voice rang out, "Do you wish to register this android to you?" I confirmed. "Registration successful. You are now the owner of a new android with the identification of: Jessie. Transferring knowledge on proper usage and care of your new Android." The light flared then faded as the voice rang out one last time, "Setup complete, please enjoy your new Android". Then I was left alone with Jessie, pondering what to do next.
