"What do you think of this, Claire? Claire?" Ryan looked over and noticed that the still normal girl was fast asleep and cuddled up against him. He simply smiled and said, "I suppose it is getting late." Without disturbing Claire, he put the book down on the coffee table and gently lifted Claire in his arms. Ryan carried her to the bedroom and placed her gently on the bed. He took a moment to brush aside some of her black hair from her face and smiled at her. He then gave her a brief kiss before tucking her in and leaving the apartment to go to his.

While Claire was asleep in her bed, she had the strangest dream.
She was in a strange room with no doors or windows but had mirrors all around the walls. In the center of the room was a basket of rocks and a sign that read, "Choose your destiny carefully, and break the mirrors that you don't want." Claire walked to the basket and picked up a few rocks. It was then that she noticed that she was naked. Fortunately, it was just a dream, and no one was around to see her.
She walked up to the first mirror and saw a sign that read "Werewolf" on top. She looked into the mirror and saw her reflection, except it was much bigger than she was, covered in black fur, and had a wolf muzzle on top. Claire turned around and noticed the reflection matching her movements. She could see the black tail on her reflection swishing about.
She went to a different mirror and read "Were-mermaid" on top. Her reflection seemed to be floating this time, and her legs were replaced by a multi-colored fish tail. She stared at this reflection for a bit uncertain as to what to make of it. She had already decided that she didn't want to be a were-mer, and at the same time, she couldn't help admire the beauty of her reflection. Still, she grasped the rock in her hand and threw it at the mirror. The mirror shattered into many pieces, and all that was left was a black wall behind it.
The next mirror that she walked in front of read "Weretiger". She looked at her reflection in this mirror, and like her werewolf form, was much bigger than she was. She noticed the feline head, and the white fur that covered her torso from her chin all the way down to her legs. She turned around and saw the black and orange fur on her back that matched the fur on her head. Her cat-like tail twitched behind her as she watched her back.
One final mirror that she walked to was one that read "Were-ally". When she looked into that mirror, she noticed that it was just a normal reflection of her, with no changes. She grasped the stone in her hand and started to think to herself. Is this something that she wanted?
Before she could make a decision, she woke up in her bed. She noticed that it was completely dark, and she was still dressed in her regular clothes. It was soon apparent to her that she must have fallen asleep on the couch and that Ryan carried her to her bedroom. She smiled at that thought, turned over, and went back to sleep.
