Porch Talk (Moon Lake of Earth-2)

added by The Masked Writer 9 years ago O

The entire Lawson family, along with Eric Anderson, were sitting on the front porch of their home, enjoying sodas. The adults all wished for something a bit stronger, but wouldn't think of doing so with the kids present.
"Well, this has been an exciting week," commented Evan, to no one in particular.
"You see why I'm moving back to Moon Lake son?" asked his father Mike. "You need local backup, I'm there," he said proudly.
"I thought the reason you were moving back was because you missed me grandpa," said Spencer coyly.
"That too sweetie. That too," replied Mike.
Because Mike actually came in handy capturing Walker, who had been following Spencer and Eric, Evan said nothing and just took another sip of his soda.
"I'm just glad it's all over," replied Maggie, relaxing in her chair, the shotgun secured back in the family gun cabinet.
"Is it?" wondered Evan out loud.
"What do you mean honey?" asked his wife.
"You remember how Walker was the last time he was in town, with the rest of the FBI trying to nab Jeremy Bauer. He'll get into trouble for straying off the reservation, as they say, and lay low for a while. But someday the guy will be back, officially or otherwise, trying to find out Moon Lake's secrets," suspected Evan.
"So what do we do?" Maggie wanted to know.
"I say we take him behind the closest woodshed and give him a good shift kick or ten," replied Mike.
Ignoring his father, Evan said, "Well, that normal that was with them is a were ally. I can give her a call and let her know what happened. Otherwise, whether it's weeks or months from now, we'll just have to wait until that jerk makes the next move."
"I still say we should—"
"We know Mike," said Maggie, before her father-in-law could finish his statement.
"And to think, on top of all this, school resumes tomorrow," complained Spencer, while slumping against the back of the porch swing.
"Personally, I'm looking forward to it," said Eric, who was sitting next to her.
"You would," said Spencer, kidding.
"No. Seriously. I am. It will be our first day there as boyfriend and girlfriend, and I'm proud to be in a relationship with you," replied Eric, before kissing her on the cheek.
"You know. That makes it all worth while Slugger," replied Spencer, before kissing him in return and putting an arm around Eric.
The adults just sat there looking at the young couple amidst them. The fact that Eric was still a normal at the moment didn't seem to bother him or Spencer. Maggie just took it as a fact of life and drank some more of her soda, but Evan and Mike both stared at the teenagers and secretly wished there was more they could do than just keep their eyes and ears open in case an opportunity presented itself to help Eric become a werepanther liked he wanted to, to be more physically compatible with Spencer's hybrid were wolf/panther-cat fursona.

MEANWHILE...
"Okay Walker. We just heard from the Seattle FBI office. Your credentials check out," began Officer Ryan Connor, as he approached the holding cell containing the Moon Lake Police Department's special "guest".
"So that means I'm free to go?" asked Sean Walker, hopefully.
"Not quite. They also claim that you're supposed to be on vacation, without access to a bureau vehicle, let alone investigating anything on your own without authorization. They're sending somebody down to talk to you and my chief in the morning, and we'll see how things go from there."
"Tomorrow!" complained Walker. The FBI agent knew by the time his superiors finished their investigation into his activities, at the very least Walker would get a reprimand, if not a temporary suspension from active duty. But if he could find out whatever it was Moon Lake was hiding before the Seattle rep arrived...
"Say Officer. Tell me the truth. What is it about Moon Lake?"
"What do you mean?" asked Ryan in return.
"What's so special about this place? Everybody looks like they've walked out a health spa. The women appear straight from a Maxim cover while the men look like they all have jobs modelling for GQ. Is it something in the water or—"
"I've never noticed. Everyone looks normal to me. Clean living?" suggested Ryan. "After all, we are a relatively small town of just over 6000."
Realizing that he was getting nowhere with the officer, Sean Walker went back to his bunk against the wall and laid down.
Meanwhile, Officer Ryan Connor knew he'd have to contact his chief and let him know about Agent Walker's unhealthy interests in Moon Lake, and find out how they proceed from there.
