A scowl was starting to form over Cecil’s lips as he drove down the highway. He was running late, and, based on the clock on his dashboard, the company’s team building exercise was going to be starting in just fifteen minutes. There was no way he was going to make it in time.
“Man, I knew I should have left earlier,” Cecil griped at himself. Leading up to this company event, he knew it was going to take him at least thirty minutes to get to it. But, as usual, he’d gotten sucked into another one of his multiplayer sessions online. Before he knew it, it was 11:35 and he was scrambling to get his teeth brushed, his long black hair combed, and get dressed right.
In the back of his mind, he just hoped that his boss didn’t get on to him again. Harvey had griped at him more than enough this year. Cecil knew it wasn’t a good omen for someone that had been with the company for just six months.
Not that it really mattered, though. Rumors was hovering around the office that they’d be downsizing soon, and, something in Cecil’s gut told him he wouldn’t be working there much longer. He just hoped he wouldn’t have as hard of a time finding a new job as he did in the year before he got this one.
Letting out a deep sigh, Cecil drummed his fingers across the dashboard and tried not to let his mind drift too much in the hectic traffic. For the millionth time since he read the announcement last week, Cecil wondered why the stupid Employee Morale Ambassador decided to ruin his Saturday by holding this event all the way over at the
