"Hey, Jared! Come on! I have a date tonight!"
You open the door to see an older version of the boy you have became looking at you impatiently. His hair is longer, and he is a much more athletic-looking 17 or 18, but there is not doubt he must be Jared's older brother. "This isn't right, Jeff! They gave me the wrong..." Your voice tails of as you realize you just called him by name. How did you know?
Jeff scowls and looks you over. "It's a dorky Scout uniform. What did you expect? Besides, Mom wanted you to get one a little big so you could grow into it. Come on! Get your stuff so I can get you back home."
A smaller boy, maybe eight, comes over holding blue Cub Scout uniform. "Say, you done in there? I gotta try this on."
What is this little kid doing.... you look past your brother and see a half-dozen boys of different ages, most with parents, looking at racks of Scouting uniforms. You are in a Boy Scout Equipment store! Another boy about your new age waves. "Hey, Jared! I'm getting a set, too. See you at the meeting tonight."
You wave back automatically. "Hi, Terry." You know his name too. The more you think about it, the more you know this Jared Michaels. You are starting to think like him! If you don't get out of this uniform quick, that is who you really will be. You look around desperately. There are Cub Scout uniforms for littler kids, a variety of Boy Scout Uniforms, and some different uniforms for Explorer scouts that look like they would be for young adults. Maybe you could try one of them on!
