Melissa Stovall was in her kitchen, cleaning up from the late breakfast she shared with her daughter Julie and her boyfriend/future fiance Eric Anderson when she heard Julie shout, "WHAT? Eric! How could you?"
Rushing back into the living room, she found the two 14 year old high school freshmen sitting on the sofa together playing video games.
"What's going on?" her mother demanded to know.
"Eric just beat me in Mario Kart," complained Julie.
"You didn't expect me to let you win, did you?" asked Eric, looking at the love of his life. "That would of been cheating. Besides, I didn't use any of the race accessories against you, only the other characters. I won fair and square."
"I guess I still have a lot to learn about romance and being in love," realized Julie, blushing a bit. "Sorry honey," she said, kissing him on the cheek.
"Apology accepted my dear," said Eric, kissing her on the cheek in return. "Want to go again?" he asked.
"Another video game, sure. But let's try something else besides Mario Kart for a while," suggested Julie, as she got up off the sofa to approach the TV and the family game console.
"Okay. Do you have anything chess related?" wondered Eric, as Melissa Stovall walked back into the kitchen with a smile on her face.
MEANWHILE...
As per the plan, Ian McKenzie and Selena Marshall, pretending to be Harry Jenkins and Jennifer Harper respectively, walked around the far corner of the property and approached the main entrance to Jenkins Construction. There, in front of the office building, Harry's brother Huck met them as prearranged earlier that morning by the Skulk, while the henchman Dieter Wilhelm sent from Alabama watched them from across the street.
The three of them talked about nothing of any real consequence, but stayed in character, before Ian and Huck went inside, leaving Selena as "Jennifer" outside.
She started to take a look around, and was about to act like she spotted the VW Bus and might recognize the driver, when the announcement came across everyone's earwigs.
"All units. Attention. This is Daisuke. Change in plan. REPEAT: change in plan. Moon Lake Police Department has just been informed by Oregon DMV that the family of the true owner of the VW Bus has filed a missing person's report on their son.* Moon Lake Police wants our cooperation in apprehending the suspect on a possession of stolen property charge. Selena, you are to walk to the opposite corner from where you were secretly dropped off before making your appearance, then turn left. The police are ready to arrest the suspect there. Check your hair when you're ready to proceed with new instructions. Over."
Not knowing where her Skulk watchers were, Selena briefly ran her fingers through her hair as if brushing a stray strand out of her eyes, then proceeded on foot as instructed.
She walked back out of Jenkins Construction, never paying attention to the VW Bus, but made sure the driver got a decent enough look to make him believe she was Jennifer Harper, although Selena knew she would never pass a close inspection on her disguise, especially considering how Harper's human half looked now since becoming a werevixen.
As casual as could be, Selena/Jennifer walked to the opposite corner and turned left.
There, she was greeted by another member of Tachibana Security, who immediately pulled her into a side entrance of the Jenkins Construction property and shut the gate behind them.
The police were hiding on the side streets a little further down the road. With this area of Moon Lake being a business section and most of the establishments closed for the day, it was just a question of waiting for the VW Bus to drive past before springing their trap.
But would the suspect take the bait?
