Moaning, Cassidy lunged forward and ripped open the door to the pantry. There was nothing there but a long row of shelves with food stacked on them. Cassidy wondered for a brief second why the door was bulging, but didn't have much time to ponder this as she heard Marty's long, black claws clicking on the kitchen tiles. She turned and sprinted towards the steps, hoping to make it before Marty got her, but she had no such luck. Marty sprung forward, sailing through the air, hitting her directly on her shoulder blades. The heat from Marty's fiery paws burned. Screaming, Cassidy brought her arms up and started beating on Marty's huge form, which hung down from her shoulders. The fire burned her legs as his back paws scrabbled, scratching, looking for some kind of hold. Throwing herself back, Cassidy rammed Marty against the wall. Shrieking, the hell hound tumbled off her back and hit the stereo system. Instantly, the speakers started belting out "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" as Marty recovered and lunged at Cassidy again. She had stumbled back and was leaning on the fireplace.
Grabbing a Ming vase off the mantle, she brought it up and smacked it against the right side of Marty's face, shattering into hundreds of shards. He shrieked again. Cassidy realized she had a large jagged piece still in her hand, and took advantage of the moment, Brining it down again and again on Marty's stomach as the music continued to play in the background. She stabbed the shard into Marty's eye, a thick yellow liquid spewing out in a spray. The hell hound shrieked in pain. A black, noxious liquid, steaming and bubbling, spewed out of the hell hound's stomach, splattering Cassidy in the face. It burned. Screaming, she stumbled back and tripped over the coffee table, landing on the couch. With ropey, gooey yellow intestines hanging out of his wounds, Marty lunged again towards the couch. Suddenly, an ear splitting scream erupted over the pumping music, the hell hound's shrieks, and Cassidy's frenzied screaming. The stereo kicked over to Bastille's "Of the Night".
Hannah was standing on the stairs. She had dropped a huge glass of water when she saw the living room. It had rolled down the stairs and cracked in two. Marty, confused, resorted to leaping around the center of the room, growling. Eric and Kay appeared, breathless, from the hallway to the right of the kitchen. "WHAT THE..." was all time Kay had to say before Marty whipped his head around eyed Kay and Eric with his one eye. Then, snarling, it leapt across the room and, claws outstretched, stabbed Eric in the stomach.
Screaming, Hannah, Kay, and Cassidy watched in horror as Eric's whole body was enveloped in a tidal wave of jet-black fur. His face pushed out into a long muzzle and his shoes ripped, thighs thickening and attaching to his stomach. His back hunched over as his ears moved to the top of his head and became pointed. He grew in size rapidly until he was as big as a tiger. His hands and feet grew smaller and together, forming huge paws. His eyes glazed red and a long, thin tail of fire burst out of his rear. His paws caught fire and he dropped to ground, snarling. Two hell hounds stood in the center of the room. Backing away, Kay stumbled onto the couch along with Cassidy. In the background, the song changed to Golden Earring's "Radar Love".
Only the new hellhound didn't attack them. It instantly turned on the other, snarling and swiping the other's face with it's huge claws. Screeching in pain, the other tried to back down, but Eric wouldn't let it. He lunged forward, tail of fire flicking around. He grasped Marty's neck in his huge jaws and rolled over on the floor. Marty was pitched onto his back as his body continued moving while his neck stayed firmly in Eric's jaws. There was a sickening crack and Marty's neck spilt open. Flies, millions of them, came spluttering out of the wound in a black cloud. Jet-back thick liquid squirted out, pooling on the floor. Marty's paws batted at the air for a few more seconds before going limp. Then he shrank, his fur turned back to it's natural tawny and black shade, his muzzle retracted a bit, his tail grew bushy again, his eyes turned that brown friendly look again, and his neck reattached. Then Marty got to his paws and, barking happily, raced up the stairs to lick Hannah.
Hannah rushed down the stairs (with Marty close at her heels) and flung open the front door, and all three girls and Eric watched as the black cloud of red-eyed flies went shooting out of the room. In just a matter of seconds, the room was a mess, with the black stain on the floor, but otherwise looked normal. The girls watched as Eric shrank, the fur and muzzle retracted, his legs separated from his stomach and lengthened, his hands and feet growing long and thin as usual, ears moving back to the sides of his head. The long tail was sucked back into his body and Eric stood there in a daze. Marty licked Hannah's trembling hand to show everything was all right.
"Wh...what happened?" He asked.
Suddenly, Hannah started screaming again. Cassidy, Eric, and Kay's eyes darted around the room, looking for the cause of Hannah's screams.
