Ashley and the minotaur lady lay on the grass, taking quiet pleasure in each other's presence.
"This is kind of embarrassing" Ashley said "but I never did get your name."
"Men!" she snorted lightly. "My name is Sithathor, it means 'daughter of Hathor.'"
"So you chose a new name when you changed?"
"Sort of, it might be more accurate to say the name chose me. My family worships the Egyptian deities, and I always had a particular devotion to Hathor. When I was ten, I got sick with a new virus that they hadn't engineered nanites or antibodies for yet, and I was on the verge of death. The goddess appeared to me in a vision, and told me that she had adopted me as her child and I would get well, and then I did. So far, great, but a year later, on the anniversary of my recovery, she appeared to me again and told me that she had actually adopted me as her daughter, and that she wanted me to take on a form close to hers. I had some difficulty with that, as you can imagine, but I discovered that as time went on, I was increasingly alienated from my male human body and started to think of myself as a cow-headed female. I started having dreams of myself as a priestess of Hathor in ancient Egypt. With my parents's approval, of course, I started a social and hormonal transition to female. Then, when my body was old enough, I had the full surgery to become who I am today and took the name Sithathor. No regrets."
