"So, tell me again. How did you acquire that VW Bus you were driving?" asked Detective Denny Miles from his side of the Interrogation Room table. His partner, Detective Jensen Lukasky was sitting next to him, while on the other side of the table was the unidentified suspect arrested near Jenkins Construction.
After helping out Doctor Frances Twist on her final interview with the rogue werevixen Yvette Smith, the detectives thought they would get the rest of the weekend off, but no such luck as the Jenny Harper situation fell into their laps.
Mark Wilson looked silently at them. He had refused to answer any question and kept demanding his lawyer and one phone call, which he planned to use to contact his boss, Dieter Wilhelm back in Alabama, as soon as he could.
Yet the police kept telling him that since he had yet to be officially charged with anything, although Wilson knew that was just a matter of time, he was simply their "guest" at the moment. A guest with a police officer standing alert on either side of him against the back wall of the Interrogation Room.
While Wilson knew that Moon Lake was a small town of barely over 6,000 residents, even he didn't believe that there was no one available from the Public Defenders' office to help him, and he wasn't about to call the lawyer Wilhelm kept on retainer until absolutely necessary. Besides, the man wouldn't be able to travel from Alabama to Moon Lake before the cops either had to officially charge Wilson or release him anyway.
"What about whatever you were driving before you acquired the VW?" asked Detective Lukasky. "Where's it right now? Was it an even swap between you and the VW Bus' previous owner?"
Wilson remained silent. If his truck hadn't of broken down, he wouldn't of had to kill those two men and steal their vehicle. Having never been to Washington State before, let alone west of the Mississippi River, the henchman wasn't sure what the name of the lake was he last saw his truck sinking into after he transferred all his stuff into the VW.
"Let's try another subject," suggested Detective Miles. "Why were you stalking Jennifer Harper?"
So, they know I have an interest in her, just not what it is, realized Wilson. His mission for Deiter Wilhelm was to locate and keep an eye on "his girl" Jenny, and kill the upstart bastard Harry Jenkins, who was trying to muscle in on Deiter's turf. The fact that Wilson had mistaken Harry's older brother as Jenny's soon to be deceased and unwanted fiance was unknown to him.
Thankfully, another subject Mark Wilson knew nothing about was weres.
There was a knock on the Interrogation Room door.
Detective Miles turned in his seat to see Police Chief O'Hara standing in the open doorway, with someone from Tachibana Security next to him.
Wilson looked at the man in the all black suit and thought, Oh shit! The Feds are getting involved!
It didn't matter to him that he had just mistaken Daisuke Tachibana of the Skulk as a Federal agent. All that mattered to Mark Wilson was that he was a suspect in some unresolved matters back home, and the last thing he wanted was those cases to be reopened, let alone his connection to Dieter Wilhelm exposed.
If it was one thing a person did NOT do, it was fail Dieter Wilhelm in whatever task or "favor" he asked you to do.
"Can I see you outside for a moment?" asked Chief O'Hara, wanting to share the information about what the Skulk discovered at the suspect's campsite with him.
"Sure," said Miles, getting up from the table to momentarily leave the room.
It was at that moment that Mark Wilson knew he had to act, or else.
Without any prior warning, he flipped the table over end toward Detective Lukasky even as he stood.
Caught off guard, Lukasky fell backwards onto the floor. The table wasn't heavy, but it would take him a moment or two to get up from under it.
Thankful that he was not secured to the table himself, Wilson grabbed the chair he was sitting in and swung it at the closest officer trying to subdue him.
The chair caught the officer in the left arm, hard.
As Chief O'Hara began yelling for back up, Daisuke and Miles started to approach the suspect, even as Wilson used the chair as a battering ram against the chest of the other uniformed officer.
That man went down, even as Wilson swung back to his right with the chair, now catching the first cop in his right arm. The officer wasn't sure if anything was broken, but both arms currently hurt like hell.
Wilson turned to face the other men, and was as surprised as Detective Miles to see the man in the black suit pull out a long sword from somewhere behind him!
Not knowing what the hell he was actually facing, Wilson threw the chair at Miles and Daisuke Tachibana even as he bent down to pick up one of the wounded officer's guns.
Not wanting to damage his samurai sword, Daisuke and Miles simply side stepped the chair.
Detective Miles started to pull his own service weapon out of its holster as Wilson pulled the trigger on his stolen gun!
