On his way back, Eliah saw the police cordoning the road. There was a lot of morbid people trying to take a peek at what had happened. Apparently it had been a car crash or something of the sort. Just then a teenage girl riding a bike came into the scene. She looked desperate.
“Let me through!” She said to a policeman. “I need to see for myself!”
“I’m afraid I can’t let you do th-” The girl pushed the policeman away and the girl entered the restricted area.
Eliah navigated through the curious onlookers, and finally saw the vehicle involved in the car crash. It was the red sports car that had flied past him on the bridge.
“Where’s Cody?!” Yelled the girl at the muscular teenager who was being loaded into the ambulance.
“He...He didn’t make it...” Said the no longer menacing musclehead.
“NOO!!! I don’t believe you!”
But it wasn’t that hard to believe when you looked at the red car and you could see Cody’s corpse impaled in the chest by the steering wheel. The authorities were still figuring out how to retrieve the body from the vehicle.
Eliah was shocked. Sure, the boy had been a bastard to him, but this was just too much...
“OH MY GOD WHY, CODY, WHY?!” The girl cried. The police seemed distracted trying to calm her down...
Eliah thought about what the naked man had humorously said: “Don’t touch any dead bodies!”...Maybe he just needed to touch Cody’s corpse to travel back in time six hours before his death...?
It was worth a shot. Maybe this is what Eliah’s purpose in life truly was. He should make use of his powers for the greater good...
With eyes full of determination, Eliah leaped over to the restricted area and before the police could catch him he hurried to the red car and touched Cody. And the moment he did, everything became blurry...
“Hey, Steve, hand me over another one.” Said Cody.
“Another one, huh. Sure.” The muscular teenager grabbed another keg, opened its cap and handed it over to Cody. “But this is the last one for the night. You’re driving us back home in the morning after all.”
“Yeah, sure. This is the last one. I’m not an idiot, Steve.”
Eliah couldn’t believe what he was hearing...Cody was alive! The time travel thing worked for real! He could see Cody and the other three teenagers from the car crash hanging out on a living room in one piece. He was in the past, he could still save them!
“So...When do the girls arrive? Are they even coming?” Asked one of the teenagers, this one was dressed like a skater. The other ones just looked at him and shrugged.
Eliah had to do something, if he let everything stay the way they he wouldn’t avoid the car crash!
Cody stood up. “I’m going to take a piss.” Said the blond boy.
“Don’t jerk off too much or you’ll break your dick.” Joked Steve.
“I’m not the one who doesn’t have a girlfriend, Steve...” Countered back Cody.
Eliah tried to speak to the boys, but he didn’t seem to have a voice...What’s more, the boys weren’t able to see Eliah. It was like he was invisible, his spirit floating there in the living room like a ghost. Suddenly everything got blurry again and a excruciating pain traveled down Eliah’s entire existence.
The man who had gave him this power wasn’t exaggerating when he said the universe was smart. It apparently was aware that Eliah’s time traveling soul didn’t have a body and was attempting to erase his existence. Or at least it felt like that. One thing was for certain though: Eliah needed a body, and fast.
Maybe he could possess Cody, and then avoiding the car crash would be a piece of cake!
However when Eliah got near Cody’s head a barrier held him back.
What the?! A sentience inside the boy’s brain had shined bright for a second and had repelled Eliah! Maybe his shambling 33-year-old spirit wasn’t strong enough to tackle a teenager’s energetic soul?
Cody felt a slight nuisance not unlike if a fly had tried to land on his forehead, but it was such an insignificant feeling he continued his way to the bathroom without giving it much thought.
Eliah was in trouble, it seems like possessing Cody wasn’t an option. What else could he try? Maybe he could search for an animal? Or a human with a weaker soul? Maybe he could possess inanimate objects, although he doesn’t know how that would help him to avoid the boy’s death...Oh! Maybe the red sports car parked outside?
Eliah wasn’t averting his gaze from Cody. The boy had gone to the bathroom and didn’t even bother to close the door as he lowered his pants. Eliah couldn’t help but gaze at the boy’s cock...No, not because it was abnormally long and uncut but because he felt a strange vibe from it, like it was an empty vessel ready for possession...Certainly that would be an easy way to control Cody without having to fight against the strong soul on the boy’s brain...No...That was just absurd...
Damn it! Eliah felt like his entire existence would vanish in any moment now! What could he do?
