"Why do you look so surprised?" Nina bubbled. "That was quite the kiss! I'm almost jealous," she giggled, slipping a sideways glance at Polly. "You must've done that lots of times before!"
"Actually," Corey began, "That was kind of our first time." She blushed a bit and lowered her head. Instinctively, you reached for her, but hesitated from a lack of confidence. Lorelei slid in between you, resting her her arms on Corey's shoulders in a comforting gesture.
"Oh, girls, you shouldn't feel embarrassed!" her aquamarine fin brushed against your own for a moment, which perked you up a bit. "You're just acting how any other mermaids in love would."
"That's right," Clarissa added while drifting into Barbara, who gave her a playful bump in return. Clarissa continued, "We don't hesitate to share our affections, but I know how strange it can seem at first for humans. I should know! I used to be one."
You remember one of the mermaids mentioning this before, "What was it that made you change?" You ask.
Barbara interjected, "Oh, that's easy. It was for me!"
"Don't be so modest!" Clarissa quipped, planting a playful kiss on her partner's cheek.
"Anyway," Lorelei continued, "our point is that we want you to feel comfortable sharing and exploring your feelings around us."
"...Is it just because we're mermaids?" There was a hint of distress in Corey's voice as she asked.
Kelly, who had been silent till this point, somberly swam up to the pair of you. "We won't lie to you. Our magic is potent, but we're not a bunch of sea witches either. We can change bodies, but we can't brain-wash anyone or make them feel things that aren't already there."
You chime in, "But I – we – didn't feel this way about each other our whole lives as humans. We didn't even like girls! How come we do now?"
Kelly smiled, "Some feelings sleep within us quietly until something wakes them up. Your blossoming into mermaids simply served as the catalyst."
Nina stammered with impatience, "Blah blah blah, does it really matter why you like each other? If you do, you just do, okay!? Are we gonna talk all day, or are we going to have some fun?"
Polly swam up and drew her arms around Nina, "Don't let her bother you girls, she's just getting cranky because we haven't made out in the past three hours."
Lorelei smiled, "Why don't we take a break from all this talking and enjoy each other for a while?"
Your eyes meet Corey's, "Sounds good to me," she says, taking your hand in hers. You feel yourself letting your reservations float away. You let yourself fall into Corey's arms. From the corner of your eyes, you can see the other mermaids drifting happily towards their partners and beginning to kiss.
Corey coils her tail around yours and twists herself around you like a weightless dancer, her arms run down your back, beginning from your shoulders and ending just below your waist, where your tail began, where she would use her position to thrust your body into hers, plunging your lips into her own. you spent what felt like hours playing with each other and exploring your new bodies. Whenever you ran out of ideas, all you had to do was look about you at the other mermaids engaged in their own playful sex. You were both very surprised to discover your womanhood was still present in your new aquatic lower-halves, and once it was discovered, both of you needed little instruction with what to do next, though the pair of you laughed a few times as you tried to make your bodies cooperate. Your tails were strong, long, and powerful instruments to aid in your physical pleasure, and sex as a mermaid proved extremely gratifying and also exhausting.
When the lot of the mermaids had tired, you let yourselves sink into a bed of cool, soft sand, lying together exhausted and blissful. You could tell now by the sunlight that the day was growing late. Your tails were beginning to feel heavier, and not just from exhaustion. You knew that your time as temporary mermaids was beginning to draw to a close.
A question remained: if you did become human again, would your feelings for Corey remain, or would they sink back to the recesses of your heart?
"Millie," Corey pouted, "What are we going to do? Are we going to stay like this?"
"Do you like it?"
"I love it. But can we really just leave everything behind?"
Lorelei, breaking herself away from Kelly, swam over to you.
"I'm so sorry, we really seemed to get carried away there! The day is slipping away from us. Drat! There was so much more we wanted to show you, too. If you're going to change back, though, it's probably best that we swim you back to shore before nightfall."
It was nearly time to make your choice.
