Spencer Lawson promised her boyfriend that the moment she heard something, she'd let him know just as the front doorbell rang.
Not surprised to see Nate Anderson standing on the front porch, she opened it to let him in. "Eric will be out in a moment. He just had to... you know," explained Spencer.

"I get you. I'll try to give him some kind of a pep talk before school tomorrow," promised Nate.
"But on the extra good news front, my dad worked out some kind of deal with Mayor Stovall, as part of a plan to help out the town on a problem they're having. Julie is not supposed to come anywhere near me or Eric ever again. Doesn't mean we can let our guard down though, because I trust her about as far as I can throw her, and I'd like to throw that bitch off the tallest cliff I can find," growled Spencer angrily.
"Copy that. You may have first dibs, but don't be surprised if there's a line forming behind you for second," quipped Nate, "but at least if she tries anything else, that would get her into even more trouble, and this time hopefully the Stovalls will finally lower the boom on that snooty—"
Yet Nate was unable to finish that statement as he saw Eric come out of the Lawson's downstairs bathroom, still walking a little funny as he approached. "Ready to go home?" Nate asked his brother.
"Yeah, but what are we going to tell mom and dad if they notice my walk?" Eric asked in return.
"Minor P.E. injury?" suggested Nate.
"Already thought of that, but then they'd wonder why the school didn't call to at least give them the heads up it happened."
"I don't know," admitted Nate, "but we have the whole drive home to think of something. Dad was in his study when I left, but mom hadn't come home yet."
"She must be on the prowl again," commented Eric, giving both Nate and Spencer a knowing look, especially in light of the recent conversation with his girlfriend.
"I'll talk with you later dear," promised Eric, giving Spencer a very passionate kiss before leaving to go home with his brother.
