Jenny sat there on the counter trying to breathe normal. Her tail flailed around and she felt her scales start to dry. She had to see how long she could last without water.
A few minutes pass and she was having a hard time breathing in the dry air, her gillls burned and flared wildy and her scales ached from being out of water. "I guess I can't be out of water for more than 10 minutes..." she breathed out. Dragging herself to the ocean was a no go. She wouldnt make it far at all.
After a while longer she was gasping for breath and decided to dunk her head in the water basin. She inhaled water desperately, trying to catch her breath then scooped water with her webbed hands and poured as much as she could all over her body sighing in relief.
"Well I guess 10 minutes is the most I can be without water..." she glanced around the kitchen trying to see if she could use a cup and fill it with water, and give it a shot to make it. She soon remembered how far he'd walked and he had walked at a fast pace even while carrying her. She wouldnt make it on her own, even with extra water. Here she was a mermaid stuck far in land and she had a feeling that this change was permanent.
She froze as she heard the front door open and the fisherman walk in.......
