You look behind you and are surprised to see a huge, stadium like building about a quarter of a mile to the left of the big top. AQUARIUM, it says in huge letters above the long stairs leading up to the front doors. On the pillars in front of the doors several signs have been hung up, all of them reading: NEW EXHIBIT - OPENING TOMORROW. A few more posters are hung next to the entrance doors, which read HELP WANTED - ENQUIRE WITHIN. You look up at the sky and realize it's twilight. It's getting dark. You can see the last of the patrons exiting the aquarium, all chattering excitedly. You smile wickedly. Maybe you could sneak in and get a sneak peek of the next exhibit.
You sprint past the big top and up the hill that the aquarium stands on. A low mist has sprung up in the field around the stadium, and you check to see if any night watchmen or janitors are around. You don't see any, so you continue on your way. You go around the back of the building, which sits in a field of trees. You go around the concrete curve and spy a hopeful sight: a blue door has been left ajar in the back of the building. You eagerly pull it open and, after one last check to see if anyone's around, you slip inside.
You appear to be at the end of a long hallway, with another blue door at the far end. This one is ajar too. The walls are covered in drab white paint and the floor is your basic white-flecked tile. A fishy smell hangs in the air. You're about to go on your way down the hallway when you stop yourself. This all seems a little too convenient. You can understand one open door, but two? You ponder it for a moment before shaking your head and continuing on. They probably just have really lax security.
You pull open the door on the other end and find yourself in a dimly-lit hallway designed to look like an underwater cave. It's deserted and quiet. Conch-shaped sconces hang on the wall. The hallway curves about both ways, encircling a huge tank of water in the middle. Grinning, you rush forward eagerly and press your face up against the glass. You frown when you realize the huge tank is empty. Where's the next exhibit? You pull away from the glass and go down the curving hallway to the left.
While the huge tank windows are against the right wall, on the left wall are smaller tanks filled with smaller fish. You pass a few tanks and read the placards about them: clownfish, picassofish, flame angelfish, regal tang, and even a lionfish. The problem is, they're all lying at the bottom of their tanks, obviously not wanting anything to do with you. Sighing, you continue on your way.
The hallway ends after a few hundred more feet and you are faced with a few doors and stairwells. One stairwell leads up. A small sign next to the stairway reads "Performing Tank" - that must be the huge tank in the middle. A small door to the left stairwell reads "Small Tank Maintenance", which must be a hallway that leads behind the small tanks so they can be cleaned and the fish can be fed. Huge glass doors in front of you simply read "Exit". There is another door that reads "Fish Food and Trick Supplies". A final door, this one ajar, is labeled "Basement" and it is pitch black down there.
After deliberating for a few minutes, you decide too...
