On midnight of August 8th of 1895 all mankind celebrated at its newest invention, a powerful AI that could unify and secure all networks, at the same time a new service launched by Landscape, Inc. went live, a whole new interface that allowed people to enter the networks and live in the cyberspace through virtual reality. This was thought to be a great idea that could not only serve as the next step in social communications but also data managements. Programmers and engineers worked together to create the platforms, soon all network providers joined their efforts to make it all compatible to the Internet and lastly Landscape, Inc. worked to alter it as a new and fresh experience that would transform it into a whole new dimension. Governments, banks and massive Corporations feared for any breach of information, yet it was completely safe, it was infinitely impossible to violate its securities protocols.
All mankind then figured that it was more productive to not only work but also live inside the network. Life became easier, almost anything was done inside of it, social interactions, projects, and literally there were companies inside that virtual world that serve as workplaces for millions of people. While many enjoyed the virtues of living inside of it, that didn’t stopped people to go out and live normally, it became a second layer in life, a second life, even people was able to modify themselves in this world, to act and be whomsoever they ever wanted “physically”.
A young man studied the network carefully, he though it wasn’t perfect, it had its vulnerabilities, and that precisely was its AI, the one that controlled the unified flow of data. He was a known for being a very dangerous hacker, a cracker, got jailed for stealing identities, he tried several times to rob banks virtually but the security mechanism were too much for him, it was impossible for a normal person to violate the security protocols. He engineered a plan to get into the mainframe in the real world, and connect himself to the main ports. He was agile, he was quick, he surely had a brilliant mind, he through all security parameters, evaded cameras and guards, he deactivated any alarm he came across, and finally connected himself to it.
He wanted power.
His avatar wasn’t such, he was the AI, he then controlled all flows of data, he became god in that virtual world. This wasn’t intended by the programmers, in fact nobody ever thought someone would connect in the main ports. He then changed the code of the peripherals so all the brains and consciousness connected and that will be connected be downloaded into the servers. He controlled every company and every single machinery. He created his army of machines that could rule the world and keep the virtual world alive. Meanwhile, mankind wasn’t aware of what happened, they were all brainwashed by it they believed the real world never existed, and this was mankind’s new reality. More than a century passed, humanity kept expanding, and he could simply be anyone, he knew everything and everybody.
He was a pervert, any change he makes would rather be accepted by everybody anywhere, sometimes he made people aware of the changes for more fun. Everytime he goes bored for all the changes he had made he activates a back-up command that will undo any changes done.
He just adopted a new identity.
