"Rick, where the fuck do you think you're going?" asked Jason grabbing Rick's shoulder and spinning him around.
"Oh, fuck, is it that late?" Rick said glancing at his watch.
"Yeah, you were supposed to be in the wrestling gym an hour ago!" snapped Jason. Then Jason shrugged and grinned, "Hey, it was your idea to settle this by wrestling, instead of me just beating you to a pulp, but that works for me too."
"No, I do plan to wrestle you. It's just it's getting late, and I've got a date," Rick explained. Chad could feel him sweating, as he spoke.
Jason shoved Rick up against the lockers. Rod had quietly disappeared.
"Look, Ricky, you shouldna go making dates which you may not be able to keep. Remember your bet? You lose the wrestling match, best two out of three, and you're my slaveboy for the weekend - the whole friggin' holiday weekend. Got that?"
"Oh, I am planning to win. I'm on the friggin' wrestling team, Jay-sohn. I'm going to be the one with the houseboy for the weekend, got it? It's just it's later than I planned, and I've got a date, so you wanna reschedule for-"
"No rescheduling. We're doing this. We can do it here and now, or we can do it in the gym. I borrowed this fucking singlet just for the match."
Rick's tongue slipped between his teeth and lips. He inhaled. Jason's singlet was at least two sizes too small, and he was all bulge and muscle.
"Fine, I'll get mine," Rick went to his locker and began spinning the dial. Jason was really pissing him off. "But remember, we abide by wrestling rules. No street fighting - got it."
"Yeah," sighed Jason. "I even got us a ref to make the calls. Satisfied, Ricky?"
Rick stripped out of his street clothes, but still wearing his Chadstrap, he pulled on his singlet. Chad looked through the taut Spandex weave and saw the world with blue tinted eyes. Jason was grinning again. Rick closed his locker and walked with him down the locker room hall to the small wrestling gym off the main gym.
"Coach Gorton?" Rick asked.
"Unofficially, I'm reffing. Jason told me about your bet, and I'm here to make sure no one gets hurts and that you both abide by the wrestling rules. This will be a best 2 out of 3 match," Coach Marcus Gorton said with a smile.
Rick was sure he could beat Jason on points. He just knew the street fighter would screw up.
"Yeah, I've been trying to get Jason to join our wrestling team ever since I found out he was the Connecticut state champ in middle school before moving to this state," Coach continued.
"Oh," said Rick realizing he may be in for a serious match after all.
Jason just grinned.
The coach flipped a coin, and asked, "Heads or tails?"
Jason shouted, "Tails!"
Rick shouted, "Heads!"
It came up tails. Jason wanted Rick to start on all fours in the circle.
