Miranda rushed towards the forest, the mob chasing after her, growing ever closer with each step. She reached the edge and plunged into it, racing down the path towards Prospero's tower. The clouds got black and it was as dark as night Thunder cracked. Lighting boomed, the wind whipped the trees almost sideways. Rain poured down in sheets.
The mob, not familiar with the woodland path, quickly lost their advantage. Miranda, who had spent 75% of her life in the woods, reached the tower in five minutes. "FATHER!" she screamed, rushing through the door and up the winding staircase. "THERE'S A MOB AFTER ME AND THEY'RE COMING HERE!" she burst into her father's chamber and found him in the chair by the window, sobbing. "My child." He cried. "You must know the full story now, while there is still time." He then told the story, with the lighting flashing in the window and the rain pelting down in the window behind him. Miranda listened the whole time with wide eyes.
Unknown to Miranda or Prospero, there was a woodsman who lived in the village climbing the stairs with a dagger. He knew the forest as well as Miranda, and had known of the existence of the tower, but had always assumed Prospero was a harmless old man until now. He intended to kill Prospero and his daughter with his own hands.
Just then, Prospero had a moment of insight. He saw the woodsman climbing the stairs just seconds after he finished telling the story. He would rather he die himself and go to hell than let Miranda be killed. "Miranda, come here!" he cried. Miranda rushed forward and threw her arms around his shoulders. "Forgive me..." he whispered into her ear, and shot a beam of white light into her brain. Miranda convulsed and fell to the floor, body dead as a doornail.
The door to Prospero's chamber burst open and the woodsman appeared in the doorway. "THIS IS FOR MY GRANDMOTHER'S QUEEN!" he cried. He threw the knife and it flew across the room and buried itself in Prospero's chest. Blood splurged out of the wound and pooled in Prospero's lap. "I did it all for the queen." Were his last words before he died.
Then, Prospero's body exploded in a flash of white light. The woodsman was instantly vaporized, along with everything in the tower and fifty feet surrounding it, except for the tower itself. The townsfolk, who had gotten lost in the woods and had stumbled all over the twisted paths covering the entire forest, were engulfed with the white light.
The townsfolk were transformed into the animals and mythical creatures of the forest. Wolves, squirrels, rabbits, deer, bears, pumas, lions, horses, dragons, werewolves, centaurs, fish, griffins, chimeras, hydras, alligators, you name it, the townsfolk were transformed into it, mythical or not. With their bodies, the townsfolk's minds changed to as if they had been the creature they had transformed into their whole lives.
As for Miranda, her soul gained magical powers and flew into a baby girl lying in a cradle, forgotten by it's mother whom had gone off to search for Prospero. The baby's eyes grew violet, but otherwise she was herself and would grow up to be herself. She was found and adopted by a good huntsman who was passing through. The girl acted like she would have as if she hadn't absorbed Miranda.
Many, many years passed. The abandoned kingdom crumbled away and was overgrown with grass, flowers, and trees. The girl who was part Miranda grew up and had a daughter of her own with violet eyes, and she was part Miranda too. Hundreds of generations passed. The family always had a first born daughter with violet eyes, and this daughter had a first born daughter with violet eyes and so on. The girls always acted normally. The transformed townsfolk multiplied and bred hundreds of generations as well, until the forest was teeming with animals, mythical and not, and magic.
And now our story truly begins. It is modern times, and the hundreds-great granddaughter of the first girl to be part Miranda has gone on a camping trip with a group of friends on the edge of the magical forest were all of this began. The girl, now called Natalie, has violet eyes as well. The animals in the forest, sensing that Miranda is back, are actively heading towards the campsite to transform Natalie and her friends into real and mythical animals like them.
And Miranda is about to awake to stop all the chaos and prove Prospero innocent, thousands of years after Sycorax's murder.
