The fisherman threw her back down on the floor and filled the bowl again.
"Don't try that again or you're not getting another one", he said with a smirk on his face.
Jenny tried to make the most of it, rubbing what little water she had all over her fin. What started off as a night at the beach had turned into an absolute nightmare. Jenny wanted to believe that she was going to turn back at sunrise, but she knew that Kyle messed up the wording when he said "before, during, and after a full moon". That's all the time, she was going to be a mermaid forever and she needed to get back to the ocean so she could at least figure out how the hell to deal with this.
However, Jenny suddenly heard a knock on the door, and the fishermen came to open it. He smiled when he saw two young men in suits standing outside.
"Come in gentlemen", he said, "she's right here".
As soon as they stepped inside the taller one of them held a gun to the fisherman's head. "Move and I'll shoot", he said.
"Shit, you've got to be kidding me!" the fisherman yelled.
Suddenly, the other man picked up Jenny by her arms. She was terrified. In the span of a night she had become a fish and now she was being handled as a commodity. However, relief rushed through her as she was thrown into a cooler in the back of the car, which was filled with water. After a night of complete suffering, this was a breath of fresh air. Soon, the other man returned and started driving the car.
"So that guy really just left you on the floor to dry out huh? Damn, I can't even believe what I'm looking at right now", the man in the front seat said as he gawked at the mermaid.
Now that Jenny had some time to think, the realized the true helplessness of her situation. That dumb asshole Kyle had turned her into a mermaid forever and the only thing keeping her alive was the fact that she was sitting in a cooler. This was bad, this was a major problem with no easy fix. Even if she were able to get to the ocean, what would she do after that?
