The cop is obscured by a bright light and when it clears, the cop is no longer standing there. You think for a moment that he completely disappeared, then you notice something on the ground when you step forward.
A pile of dog crap.
You look into your trunk. Keith is still smooshed up in the paper, so this new pile has to be the unwitting officer. "I'm so sorry about this officer."
The dog poo just sits there, no sign that a few moments before it had been a police officer. You figured you needed to turn him back as soon as possible. But then you had a thought: did you really need to turn him back right away? If he was aware of his current position, he might be angry and try to arrest you. More likely, he would just be confused and disoriented.
You sigh and retrieve some more paper from Keith's backpack, picking up the doggy leavings from the sidewalk. ""Really, really sorry about this officer." You set the cop in the trunk next to Keith. This all feels really surreal. You couldn't have accidently turned your best friend and cop into dog poo, right? Might be better if you found a garbage can, threw the poop out, and forgot any of this ever happened. You felt a strange thrill at having so much power over these former humans.
Whoa, that was a bit of a weird thought. You were not going to do that, and you had no idea that that thought had even crossed your mind. Something about these keys was getting to you. You considered your options.
