...Alyssa had also turned into a mermaid.
When Alyssa didn't come to the door, Sarah knew she needed to act fast. She thought for a second and saw a hose next to the front door. She dragged herself through the grass and blasted the water onto her fin, feeling relief as she did so. her mind began to clear, and she looked longingly at the now empty pool she was once swimming in. Fantasy movies glamorized it, but Sarah knew the truth, being a mermaid was terrible.
Inside the house, Alyssa was having her own problems. She had fallen asleep, but she suddenly woke up when she heard yelling outside. She tried to jump out of bed but her legs felt like jello and she fell to the floor with a thud. She tried to stand but her legs were giving out, bending in a way she had never felt before. She was incredibly scared, wondering why she couldn't stand and then she realized that she was feeling incredibly dry. Then the realization hit her. Had she turned into a mermaid too? She didn't want to look, but she knew she would find out eventually. She rolled off her stomach so she was on her back and sure enough, there it was. She had a pink tail fin instead of legs. This was bad, if anything happened to Sarah she sure wasn't gonna be of any help.
She looked up at the door, now that her fin rendered her torso to be her only height, she realized there was no way she could open it. The knob was simply too high. She began to panic, what was she going to do? she needed to get to water but was trapped inside her own room. She put her head into her hands as her tail flapped uncontrollably on the floor, her sympathy for Sarah turned into solid empathy all too fast.
