"Where the hell are we?" Logan asked, sitting up and rubbing his eyes.
"I think we're not in Kansas anymore," Will said, pulling himself to his feet.
"Did someone spike my drink or something?" Rebeca asked, not bothering to get up off her back.
"Wasn't me. I can't afford that stuff. Also, you know, morals," Cal said, rubbing his head.
"I'm not sure if my parents should be paying you more or less," Gabe said, using Rebeca as a prop to pull himself up.
"This is definitely worth fifteen bucks, I'll tell you that much. In fact, I think I robbed that old guy at the game store," Will said as he propped himself up against a signboard.
"You seriously think this is the game?" Logan asked.
"What? It's not like we had some crazy latin incantation that we said after the mysterious game showed up from the Spells store," Cal said.
"Spells R Us," Will corrected.
"We did the thing!" Rebeca said, jumping up to her feet, "We went into a game we were playing! I have seen this movie so many times! Alright, we have to win, then we magically go home."
"Seems legit," Logan said.
"So, how do we win then?" Cal asked.
"You guys are just going with this?" Gabe asked.
"Why not? You got a better explanation?" Will asked. Gabe stood dumbfounded for a moment before throwing up his hands in defeat.
"Think maybe that big board you're leaning on might be telling?" Rebeca asked, pushing Will away from the signboard.
On it was a large parchment with a royal decree that indicated a significant reward for the rescue of the princess.
"That is so cliche," Will said, chuckling.
"It doesn't say where she is," Logan said, studying the decree.
"Think this'll help?" Cal asked, pulling the rules out of his back pocket.
"Is there anything on there that tells us where a witch lives?" Will asked offhandedly, clearly not expecting an answer.
"Onyx tower, right? Over there," Cal said, pointing over a nearby hill, where the group could barely see something black on the horizon.
"That looks far away," Gabe said.
"Well, any objection to heading out right away?" Rebeca asked.
"You say as if there's ever any use objecting to you," Will said, strolling down the road toward the hill.
