As soon as she'd said that, Logan shriveled away, a hopping toad soon all that was left where he'd been.
"Damn," said Morgana, "I didn't even need to roll for that. This really is a load of bullshit."
"A toad? Really?" asked Gabe.
"You're right, a little cliché... if you were older, my response to that would be to do something more creative to you, but everything I can think of is something I'd feel bad about doing to a kid... here." The boy shrank to doll-size, his clothes shrinking with him. "One of my favorite spells, although I don't usually shrink their clothes."
As she was busy talking to Gabe, Cal charged, and she turned back to the sound. As she raised her hand, the two of them froze. "Huh. I guess we do have to roll." The die left Will's hand, floating in the air. Numbers came up, one after another, until reality began to move again; Cal ran straight through the witch, as if she hadn't been there. "I'd ask if you wanted to surrender," said Morgana, "but that would count as a loss, which would mean I'd get to transform you anyway, so it's kind of a Morton's Fork situation."
As Cal turned, Morgana raised her hand again; again the die showed a series of numbers, this time ending with the minotaur turning to gold, an expression of rage forever fixed on his face. Morgana turned to the two who remained humanoid and full-sized, Rebeca now cupping her brother in her hands. Morgana sighed.
"Look, let's just get this over with."
She raised her hand again, and the die spun again; Will and Rebeca both felt their bodies shift. The muscles Rebeca had grown became more exaggerated as her breasts shrank further and she felt a change in her loins, leaving her a him. Will, on the other hand, lost most of his muscle as his waist shrank, his hips grew, and other parts of him split and shriveled away. His breasts were last, leaving him a her, slightly muscular, but not enough to really be noteworthy, like a girl who might play varsity soccer.
Will and Rebeca looked at each other and shrugged. It certainly could have been worse.
"So I guess this is game over?" Will asked, raising a hand to her throat involuntarily at the sound of her voice.
"Yep," said Morgana, sitting down. "First time?"
"Uh, yeah," said Will, trying to affect her old voice, finding herself unable. "Is it that obvious?"
"Oh, yeah," said Morgana. "So I'm sure you've got a lot of questions."
