"Wow!" Carrie's eyes widening with amazement. "What kind of tree is that? Those are the strangest fruits I've ever seen."
"That, my dear" Said the kiosk worker "Is a Gambler Oak. If you let any of the fruits juices touch you, absolutely anything can happen to you. Those fruits are the source of most of ToonWorld's transformation inducing items. If you know what you're doing you can alter the fruit slightly to make it cause the desired effect. Better be careful though, if you eat one of those fruits directly from the tree there's no way to know what will happen."
As if to prove his point, a squirrel started eating one of the gambler fruits while the employee was still explaining and after a puff of smoke, all that remained of the squirrel was a flying head!
"Now as I was saying, unless you're the type that loves to test your luck, you're better off buying an already modified fruit from my stand here."
Having just caught up with Carrie, John only heard part of what the vendor was saying but he also saw what happened to the former squirrel so he knew that tree was potentially dangerous.
"I think we should listen to him." Said John, "He's probably selling everything that the fruit can do anyway."
"Oh not by a long shot!" Said the vendor while snickering, "Maybe you didn't hear the part where I said that ANYTHING could happen. I may be able to use hammerspace like any toon, but even after years of studying this kind of tree we still don't know everything it can do. Even though it is safer to buy from me, I can't stop you if you want to try it for yourself. Just remember that even if something strange happens, just the act of rubbing some of its juice on you might fix whatever happens, or it might just make the problem worse."
After hearing all of that, Carrie still thought she wanted to give it a try. Nothing is permanent in ToonWorld after all! So, despite what John said, Carrie walked up to the low hanging fruit tree, chose a good looking specimen, took a bite, and then.......
