What the heck? You blow out the candles and grin. Looking around, you see all of your friends from when you were in second grade. Tommy, your best friend until he moved away. And Austin, a kid you liked but sorta drifted away from over the years. Your mom starts to cut the cake, giving you the first piece. It tastes good, and you are full of energy and excitement. This is real! Somehow, the photo took you back to your eighth birthday!
But you remember everything, including bad stuff, that happened after this. Maybe you could change all your mistakes! And school would be a snap! What about having to be a little boy again, though? No freedom, going to bed early, stuck in the neighborhood. Then again, no chores, no responsibilities.
As the party continues, you play with your friends and actually enjoy stuff you would normally think was silly. Being eight is fun! Part of you realizes that your mind must be changing to fit your new age. You still remember being older, though. Will you end up totally an eight year old? Do you have any choice?
