She didn't actually scream, although that's what she thought she was doing. It came out as a bark.
Julia was a cocker spaniel.
Looking around she saw that she wasn't in her bedroom either, but in another girl's. That weird little loser Jenny?
Julia felt a hand gently smoothing her fur. "You see," Jenny began. "I got three wishes. I've always wanted a dog, and you are a total bitch, so it just made sense. And I used another wish to erase any memories anyone but you and me has of Julia the human being, so your parents and friends have completely forgotten you, as if human Julia never existed. That leaves me with one wish, and if you are a very, very good dog I might use it to turn you back into a human being. Or I might use it for, I don't know, world peace or something. Or I might wish that you live for the next ten thousand years as a dog, that's a fun idea. But one thing I will never do is wish that you forget that you were a human being. You'll always remember being pretty, popular Julia even if no one else does." Jenny scratched her new pet behind the ears. "You are such a cutie! I wonder if I should breed you."
