permanent preservation, it's just down the hall so lets go."
Feeling out of my element again I just followed Laura out of the mud-room and down the hall into a room marked permanent preservation. The room was just as nicely adorned as the mud room, but in this one there was a large machine running around the perimeter of the room with a conveyor belt sticking out at either entrance. Standing in the middle of the room at a small console was a busty young lady wearing an open lab coat and nothing else.
"Hello!" She greeted us with a smile, "Welcome to permanent preservation, which one of you will be going home with a shiny new body?"
"That would be me" Laura replied.
"Excellent, if you would please remove your robe and lie down on the conveyor belt to your left, head towards the machine, we can get things started. It will only take a few minutes once the machine is on, and your partner will have a few choices to make as you move through." Laura did as she was asked, giving me a quick but passionate kiss before lying down on the belt.
"Enjoy this Quinn, I'm about to become your perfect lover forever." She said before her head disappeared into the mouth of the machine.
"Quinn was it?" The young lady calls me, "Could you come over here please? There's a few things to finalize before your lover is finished.
I wandered over to the console to see pictures of Laura's new body in various skin tones ranging from standard tan, black and white to more outlandish colours like blue and purple. "Please select a skin tone for Laura" the young lady prompted. It didn't take me long to make a choice: a pale natural tone to mach her new Korean body.
"Looking good so far Quinn, I'm sure Laura will love it. Next choice: which makeup do you like best?" the lab-tech asked. A bunch of pictures of Laura's face came up on the screen each with a different look. I scanned over my options, ranging from bright reds and yellows to more neutral flesh tones, and decided on a package that gave her a smoky look. Dark blue bordering on black with a slight shimmer for the eyeliner and a slightly lighter shade of the same applied as a bit of eye-shadow. Matching dark lips finished the look, and the contrast was great on her pale new skin. With that selected options for nails and nail-polish came up. I chose to give her 1/8 inch fingernails painted in the same shade as her lips, with her toenails being shorter but a match for colour.
"Excellent choice. Now, final Question before we finish here and you get to see the final product: Was Laura your perfect lover even before these changes?"
The question floored me. I wasn't ready for (what I thought was my) subconscious to ask me a question that deep. Heck, I never expected it to even ask me a question in the first place. Still... the question had merit, and what harm was there in answering it. "Yeah," I said "it's been fun changing her like this and that sex was incredible, but I love her for who she is not how she looks."
"Great, she'll be thrilled to hear that!" The machine beeped as the lab-tech said that, signaling that Laura was done being processed. "Now let's go see how she turned out."
"Go see?" I questioned, figuring Laura could show herself off, but I followed the girl anyway. Once I reached Laura I realized why I had to go to her: the 'permanent preservation' really was permanent. I just stared at the girl with a dumbfounded expression frozen on my face.
"Oh you lucid dreamer types always get confused here. Look, when you wake up this will make a lot more sense. And with that we woke up. Or at least I did since a love-doll can't really wake up in a normal way and that's what Laura was at the moment.
